23 Enforcer Setup

I picked up an 86 23 Enforcer outboard and am looking to
repower. So am wondering if anyone has setup advise ?

I need a swimstep/platform and was consdering a bracket
with platform built in but that would be alot of setback
@24" the boat seems to need leverage to lift the nose.
is anyone running setback on 23 or new 24

I am thinking of 250-300 Yamaha Vmax for power

thanks for the help

Hey Daddio, you need to install a hydralic Jack Plate with 10" to 12" of setback, or you could use a fixed 6" setback plate and a 6" Hyd. jack plate. The Enforcer needs setback to run well. It's a big boat and fairly heavy so you need leverage to lift the nose up. If you use a fixed bracket you will not be able to adjust your motor up and down for hole shot and top end speed.

The 21s run 10-12" I was wondering if I could get away
with more . I am going to get a Jackplate but I want to
use a bracket because we (family) do alot of swimming/
beach and the swim/bracket is a nice way to board.

Dadio, you could get away with more set back. I assume you're going to use a Stainless Marine bracket with swim platform. You could add a 4" hyd jack to the bracket. I would beef up the inside of the transom with some aluminum plates to distribute the load.

you might do some checking-there used to be in Houston a place that made a stainless swimstep/motor bracket that was hydraulic-whole unit lifted up and down. maybe check past boat show listings.

I picked up a 1996 225 EFI merc . Anybody else running
a 23/24 with outboard trying to get close with a prop for
the spring?

THANKS
