1987 exciter black/red-silver metalflake with 1980 mercury 150 125 psi on all 6,no rips tears, carpet great, runs excellent, with matching bunk trailer.paid 5000. on 7/4/09 wife dont like boat.will trade for cvx20 jet(guy has got one on craigslist defiance ohio for 2500 obo.)would have intrest if someone bought his who had intrest in mine.can e-mail pics.boat in great shape for year.

Nobody here has ever seen pics of this boat. It sounds like a great looking coolor scheme. You REALLY need to figure out how AND to post some pics here in this thread. This is the kind of rig that usually doesn't take long to sell. Good luck.

i was looking at being a member, but dont know were im going with this boat?wife dont like color/ride.i will be happy to e-mail photos if anyone has intrest.

I would keep that boat and find a new wife, if thats the reason for selling it. How can she not like the color?? Take her out a few more times. Any small fast boat will ride rough, she can get used to that. That boat will get attention on the water.

thanks for the post.

im working on the wife.i went and got my allison jack plate out only 6",i dont know how much set back this boat might like, and looking at choppers from diamond marine.its a nice clean boat, but the wife likes the cvx glastron.we will see were we go.thanks again.anyone have a jackplate on a boat like this or close to.would like to see pictures of set up as far as control cables.

thanks for the help on pictures.im working on the wife she likes the cvxs.i have got down my allison jack plate from the shelf only 6"(dont know what this boat might like on set back)and looking at over the hub choppers from diamond marine.dont know what im looking at as far as mods with the plate or if its pretty much a bolt and go?we will see were she ends up if she dont sell.

Glastrons are nice boats. I had a CVX16 20 years ago. What is it the wife likes about the CVX?

Anyway, you have a nice example of a Checkmate...and a cool boat, imho. I may be partial, though.

You should be able to add a 6" jackplate with your exisiting cables. I hope we're talking cable(s) here, at least. You do have dual steering cables, don't you? The previous owner of my boat had installed a 10" extension on the back. Somewhat height adjustable, but not like a jackplate. Point is, he had rerun the steering cable out of a new location and left the fuel, wiring, etc. exiting from the factory location. The first pic below shows how it was rigged when I got it. You can see in the 2nd pic below where the seering cables now exit. I now have dual steering cables handling the chore, however. I've also relocated where and how the remainder of the life support system are routed and rigged.

i think she misses are friends.we were on the mn glastron site made a lot of friends, had meets every summer.i told her it would be the same with this boat, plus this boat seems to bounce alot(the old baja bounce)i think its cool sometimes. the boat had a foil on the back but i took it off as it hurt performane, i think.thanks for the pics on your jack plate.i was wondering if i would have to make new holes for the cables or if they were flexable enough to use were they exit now, with out having to put more holes in the side.whats a good prop for these boats, mine has got a 23p lazer.i was looking at them over the hub props? was told checkmates like thruhub?i would like to see 60mph with the 150.runs 57-gps now.

I'm not a Laser prop fan. The one I tried on mine was slower and would cavitate badly with any steering input and I was NOT running the motor all that high at the time. My best performance with the 150 I had was with a 23 Tempest (old style). It was right at 60 mph.

Some guys here have left their steering cable exiting the factory location with jackplates. You might be okay doing so with a 6" plate if the cables are in good codition to start with.

Thanks dude you are answering all my questions also getting ready for a plate and new prop! Do you have the part number for the tempest you used?

It's boxed up in the shop somewhere at the moment. It's just a 23P Tempest... not a Tempest Plus. The one I have actually belongs to a frined of mine. He doesn't use it, but sure used the stuffing out of it judging from it's condidtion. No matter, it was the fastest prop I had ran on the ole 2 liter.

justincase
