I like that, keep us posted on the plans/progress. Looks like lots of fun.

Nice old Checkmate. You'll want to hang on to this one. What year is it? By the way, you gotta be careful walking around truck stops. That's not Gatorade they're dumping out on the ground.

I actually havent even looked yet . I was told they were built from 67-69. That was a Mc donalds parking lot lol .

The tag is actually stamped from checkmate max hp 150hp . Thats the max on my 16.3 Trimate this boat is only 14.1 that would fly .

One thing to consider is 135 - 200 Black Max motors look the same on the engine covers a 2.4 200 hp looks like a 150 and you could upgrade and use a 2.5 power head and squeeze 280 hp out of it and the outer cosmetic engine covers could say ( 150hp )
Just food for thought ~ wicked grins~

Thats just Nuts lol . I think we need to stay with the 80 hp 4 cyl thats on her for awhile.

Well This is what I have found out so far . The lower unit is junk . The case is cracked and has a slight oval look to the gear housing . I took the prop of and everything behind it is loose . But I have found another lower unit for it .

I bought that boat a year ago in Chesterfield MI, then I sold it to a friend. My friend traded it to some guy for a dirtbike. The guy then put it on Craigslist for sale or trade. I traded him a home theatre reciever for it. Now it's mine again.

Wow went in a circle lol . I remember seeing it online . A buddy of mine had been looking for a boat and had emailed me the listing for yours . Small world lol .

Well just back from tinkering around with V141. I cleaned the inside out some . I also removed the lower shift shaft from the motor . It was stuck to the upper shift shaft. I sprayed some fogging oil in the cylinders while I was there . Even tho i plan on firing up soon .

I really like that little boat. I think a classic 115 TOP would look great mounted on the back.

I think it would look good too with a Inline six on her . If we ever dicide to change power it would be from a 90-115 inline six . But probably a 90 tho . Its 14 ft boat I dont want to get to crazy. Plus this is my buddy's first boat so the 80hp will do till he gets more fimiliar with boats and boating .
