Checkmate fanatic or internet fanatic?

illMATTic

Well-known member
Ok so we have 5000+ members and we have 50+ who actually post on this site. For me its one in the same. Go boating - share with the rest.

What are the other thousands of Checkmate owners doing? Are they boating fanatics or do they just use it a couple times a year? I am first and fore most (spelling) a fanatic. All I think about are boats and trucks.

So this brings us to my question......... are the members who don't post still boating fanatics?

How many Checkmate owners really use their boat and love it?

The same here, we're out out the water at least once a weekend with the exception of work and family functions. I even log in during working hrs to see what others are doing, whether it's a resto or boating in general. As I said before my wife calls it boat porn. Maybe the word "addictive" could be used as well.:D

boating is my first love

Both the wife and I are die hard boating enthusiasts, first thing we do when we get to the lake friday night is go for a ride, I've always been obsessed with boating, even when I was a little kid, all I can think about all winter is going for that first ride and how many good times we're going to have this summer. We don't even miss any weekends because of family functions, both her and my parents have cabins at the same lake as us so all family functions are at the lake.

I would also say I'm obsessed with my boat porn site, I will even stop on the hwy to check in if a see a sign somewhere with free wireless:rof:

Most of my spare time is spent looking at boats and women, as expensive as boat stuff is, it is cheaper than another woman. Pretty much all of my spare money goes to boating and partying, the rest I just waste. The people I work with (all retards) think boating as much as I do is dumb and I could be doing other things, one suggested golf.:shakehead:

Im on here in and out when im home seeing what others are doing, but when its nice out im usually at the lake or polishing the exciter, unless im sitting on the deck drinking. There are only two sites that im generally on and its here or facebook.

I am addicted for sure.......I love boating in general and enjoy sharing with the community on here whether about boats or whatever else. I am on this site constantly at work...haha.

My co-workers just shake their heads and say "He's looking at boat porn again" I can't get enough.

Hey, just gotta check and see what all my imaginary friends on the internet are up to from time to time. That, and get a dose of drama every now and then  (oh wait, that show's over isn't it? :shakehead: ).

I do a lot of searching for ideas to steal or finding answers to questions pertaining to my rebuild project. And every once in a while someone has a question that I have the answer to, so I get to share some information. There aren't many sites online where you can ask a question about a 31 year old boat (or a 31 year old anything for that matter) and someone from the factory will answer your question.

Addict

Yep...here or facebook. I occasionally stop in to visit S&F. But this is the main site.

My family loves boating. My wife is fully behind the checkmate cause because it puts all of us in the same place with smiles on our faces! And while I spend a little money on boating doo-dads, she doesn't complain because I could be spending it on a heckuva lot worse stuff.

Lol...I tell my wife that my boats are cheaper than golf, other women and therapy. I pretty much work to go boating on the weekends with the family. I golf only when I have too.

I check in here, S&F, and The Hull Truth. Really like to see pics and info on Checks that members just got or are upgrading.

Should be mandatory that every new CM owner post pics here. :D

Both!

I am fascinated by how small the INTERNET makes the world. I only know 1 or 2 of you guys face-to-face, but I have several "boating friends" through this site.

I have been addicted to Checkmates for pretty much my entire life (long before the Inet), so having Checkmates on the Inet is like having wings with a beer. Always good!

I just wish more mate owners shared info like we do. But it is pretty time consuming to post on here daily. I am sure guys with families and demanding work schedules have their hands full already.

I am going as far to say everyone who has commented here is addicted to the internet. :bigthumb:

YEah....my wife and I ask ourselves which would we rather have: TV or Internet. INTERNET. Period. The end.

My activity on the net drops off significantly once spring rolls around though.

I am a boater from way back...

My dad had a boat as far back as I can remember (and I am over 50). I made sure my boat was paid for before I got married. I may not of always had gas money but nobody could take my boat away!

I have been into other things over the years but I always came back to boating. I still have 1 relatively fast car (LS2 GTO), I shot trap for a while- that gun is for sale. If I don't have time to go boating I may go pop a ground hog or two. I have a camper but it sits on the truck so I can still take the boat.

I enjoy all of these things but the boat is always my #1 priority.

(I made it to a couple of Scream & Fly Rallys on the Columbia River in Washington and I went to Raystown Lake with a bunch in September a year ago. Raystown is a beautiful lake in the mountains and you can run flat out for about 35 miles on good water.)

This subject eventually comes up on most web forums. Some people feel that they might be doing more than the rest and because of that feel that us lurkers don't belong. But what you need to remember is this is a great teaching and learning web forum and not every one has the answer to a posters problem or question, so even thoe a 100 people looked at a post and only 3 responded doesn't mean we don't belong. Those 3 answers might have helped 25 people that lurked. Also If I see a post I might have an answer for but 5 other people have already said the same thing I was going to say I don't feel the need to repeat what's already been said. I have learned alot about my checkmate from just reading other posts and have received great help in my posts. So I myself am greatful that somebody took the ambition to start this web site and help us less fortunate thinkers, just for the fact that one post might save me hours of scratching my head and throwing tools and money out the door. So lets be happy all of us have the same passion for an individual product and like to share with others.

Have a great day and keep on smiling

Mark

I have to agree this site is addicting! I don't like to spend a lot of time on the internet, but it is winter. I find myself always wondering what someone responded to the last post I read. I will say it takes time to navigate the site & figure out proper etiquette, but everyone is very friendly & helpful! :bigthumb:
