Factory Vinyl, good deal!

winter

Active member
I'm sure it's been mentioned here a million times, but i never had a real need to address any interior issues until this current boat. I took it to my local upholsterer who quoted me an enormous price to redo the entire interior. I just talked to Mike in parts at Checkmate and was amazed that an entire cover kit for my 20' BR Persuader was only around $1250, or $2500 with foam and wood, ready to install. Wow, what a deal. You can bet i'll be talking to them come October!

now what can i do to get some factory sparkles for my resto job on my 79 enchanter.

Sparkles in the paint or interior vinyl? According to Mike, It sounds as though they simply break out the templates for the model you are restoring and they custom make the whole deal in house. So if they can get that wizzy sparkle vinyl, then you may be in luck! :bigthumb:

factory vinyl good deal

Winter, You won't be disapointed with any aspect of new vinyl from the factory. I have a 88 251 convincer that I redid. I delt with Mike, who was great. He was very patient in going over all my options. After deciding on the checkerd flag series which ultimatly made the boat look at least 10 yrs newer,my turn around time was only 4 wks. The quality is top notch, and the best part for us do it yourselfers the fit is perfect!

That's good news Kyle. For whatver reason, i had jsut thought that factory original stuff would be very pricey. Mike's getting a call in October :thumb:

Kinda off topic, but I was amazed the first time I called Checkmate. They are all super friendly and will do what ever they can to help.

can somebody give me the number to checkmate,, i have a 82 checkmate that i would like to get some parts for and need to know where to start looking.. Checkmate would be a great start!!

Did you guys say they'll do that for any older model from the old templates? That'd be AWESOME because my '92 Pulse needs nothing else but the new wood/foam. The old wood (especially in the bow) for some reason just didn't seem to hold up the the splash the last few years. The vinyl is in fair shape, but the wood (in particular the rolled edge trim) has just been beat to death!

wow talk about your divine intervention...lol. I was going to the local upholstery shop tomorrow for my vinyl work. Man, timing is everything.:bigthumb:

Yes we do have patterns for a 92 Pulse. Should be a easy boat to do. I've got 2 boats to do rite now A Eluder and a Diplomat IO. As a matter of fact I've got 2 sets of 210 or 211 pulse seat wood(can't remember witch one) allready done could i be lucky.

Funny timing here too... I was thinkin bout sewing mine myself and doing the wood and all. Can do it, but was not looking forward to the job. I called to inquire about having the factory do it about a year ago, right after ownership / management change and was told theyt weren't really intereste din doing it, etc...

More recently was thinking about having one of the guys that works at Fountain or Grady and who is laid off to do it, but then after seeing this thread said what the heck, I'll call Ohio and see...

Alan, right... please do a nice job on the lt grey with black/red diplomat interior, ok? :)

I'll finish the detail work on the light grey paint / rubberized non-skid interior and add the red and black splatter-paint to break it up in the mean time... everything else is done including black / grey webbed look in engine compartment, starburst candy red metallic engine paint with polished aluminum manifolds and valve covers on the stroker motor, and so on...

consistently running mid 70's... and have a little more cam on the way a bigger carb soaking in the tank, looking for a little smaller diameter prop in a couple inches more pitch... life is good.

Hey Tim I finished up the wood for your interior today. Took it all back to Linda to be covered. But guess what ITS NOT WOOD ANY MORE. All of our interiors are now made of a new material that we got its called Kingstar Lite. So any one that wants a new interior now is the time to get them made. I would have to say that this is the best material that we have ever used for a interior. I have tried to break it and I can not do it and it will not rot. In my opinion it is 100 % better than pro board.

Hmmmm....the interior in the Strobe has some rough spots...and the wood around my back seat is coming apart.....gonna call Mike this winter, also get a cockpit cover made, my boat had one originally and it somehow got lost before I bought it. Alan, you're gonna be busy!!!:D

Outstanding!

Does that include the pieces under the rear and around the gas tank? or should i take them out to the curb tomrrow as well?

We're moving this month (bought a house while market and interest rates both down), but I'm really looking forward to putting it all together in the new shop and to be ready for next season on the water.

Hope you guys are getting enough orders for new boats or enogh of whatever kind of work you need to keep the place running... I know it's rough all over these days...

Thanks a lot for the heads up! I'll post pictures once it's done and unwrapped (and we get everything moved...).
have a great one!

ps. what's funny is that I logged on thinking about it and was planning to drop a line in the am just to see what's up. No hurries, just checking...

Here are the pieces that I did. Rear seat base and pad and back rest ,side pads R & L, hatch pads R & L,Bow seat back rest R & L, bow seat pads R & L, bow crash pads R & L, front crash pad and the big bulkhead that goes under the front crash pad. I was looking at the rear seat the other day after Linda covered it , its LOOKING GOOD.:cheers

Hey guys if you are ordering a interior please get your order in early. Because if we have boat orders I have to do them first. Thanks

Factory Replacement upholstery ......

Haftoo55 is right......Now is a great time to get upholstery orders in ! Lead time would be short compared to waiting until spring and having to wait 2 months or something like that ! Everybody waits til then and wonders why we can't get them done .......in a timely fashion. Now is the time ! KC
