New toy for the holidays!

JUPITER PULSARE

Just won a Hydrostream Valero YT bowrider/Merc 175 off of EBAY. Picking the boat up tomorrow in Daytona Beach. The boat is a 1-owner garage kept since new...hard to believe the boat is almost 20 years old and unmolested!!! I can't wait to play with this little boat!

Very nice, I ment a guy on the water a few months ago that has the same boat but is a closed deck with a EFI BridgePort. I could not belive how smooth it runs at speed and how much space inside it had. Cool hull too. Is that considered a tunnel?

It's considered a mod V-pad tunnel.....

Checkmate or not, that's one of the coolest boats I've ever seen. Probably the only Hydrostream I've ever really loved. Good Score!

Looks like a rare great one! Congrats!!!! I'd love to have one like that!

As you probably already know, there was a LOT of warranty claims with that very hull design that basically put original Hydrostream out of business (among other things) because of the sponsons and delamination. The YT hull design basically bled the company because hull issues. Keep your eye on the sponsons and center pod, and get us some video of it running! After all these years, if the bottom hasn't fallen off, you may have a good one. I'd love to find one just like it up here. Great score if the core is dry!

That's an awesome find. Make sure you check it over really well, then put a 260 EFI on it. :) (just kidding - well, sort of).

Greg, I would love to slap a 260 EFI on the boat. Instant tripple digit boat!! To keep things simple, I may hunt down a 1994 or newer Mercury racing 245 Carb motor like I had on my Talon. Trouble free fun!

Or better yet, find a '94-'96 225 Promax for it. then you'd have trouble-free efi fun!!

Brought her home from Daytona yesterday and splashed her at dark. Took her into the 60's before a channel marker jumped out of the dark and scared the $hi+ out of me!!:eyecrazy: There was a LOT left in the throttle! :banana:Oh well...at least we had our maiden voyage!! I think I'll wait till daylight before I open her up!:bounce:

You sure don't want to hit a marker in one of those hyper light flyers. I think I know a little about It.

All I can just say "Thank god it was a Checkmate"

I ran the new Valero last wednesday. I was spinning 6400 rpm turning a Mercury chopper 24..wish I had a GPS with me..I know I was easily over 70 mph and still climbing. It's quite a bit different than my big Pulsare. Have to learn how to drive this little beast..it's very sensitive to trim once the tunnel starts packing air..too much trim and it gets flighty and starts to chine walk. It likes running fast with real neutral trim settings.

Hey Jup, what do you think about that $2000 Virage??? Only way a Virage hull is at $2,000 is if it's junk. I wonder if this is the one that had the transom tear out of it two years ago? I never should have sold my Virage Turbo to Alaskan Streamin' so cheap.....................

I originally spoke to him when the boat was on Ebay for $1700.oo. He said the boat is solid and clean..just needs a good compounding from sitting outdoors. The trailer is a p.o.s. but will pull the boat. It was listed twice on Ebay but never sold. I tried to contact him by email and phone number but never received a response. Had the boat been closer to Florida, I would've bought the boat as I'm more interested in the closed bow than the open bow Valero I bought. I have a friend who is running a Virage with a built 260 over 100 mph on GPS!! I'm still interested in that Virage and left a post on S&F.

New Valero Pictures

Here's the update on my Hydrostream Valero. I decided to do away with the "ancient" non supportive Hydrostream seats and installed two new JEGS racing seats with matching seat covers. (roughly $200.oo shipped to my door) They fit the boat perfectly and and are quite comfortable plus they will never, ever, rot!!!! These pictures were shot on Superbowl Sunday...damn, I hate winters in Jupiter, FL!!:D
