Hello, G/F and I bought a 1988 Checkmate but we are not sure what we have. We were told but the seller its a Enchanter but the name tag by the steering wheel says Starflite. Can anyone tell me the difference between a Starflite and a Enchanter. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!!! Post pictures of your boat and we'll be able to tell you. But if the name tag says Starflite, then it's a Starflite!:D

Thanks for your help and the two pics, I am trying to figure out how to upload pics of mine here but the top pic of the Starflite is my boat minus the windshield and alil different paint scheme.

Use a hosting site photo bucket to load pictures. Once you have pictures there
Open a thread here right click on the picture then paste it in the thread.

If the bottom gas a pad on the very bottom of the V near the transom it's an Enchanter. If it has a notch in the transom and no pad on the bottom it's a Flite.

Quick question...with pad does this mean better for flat water, and without pad better for rough?

Just a need to know

Well, I am happy to say I am the proud owner of a 88 Starflite  This is my first outboard, I was raised with jet and v drive boats but my GF has had other outboards. I want to thank everyone for the comments and welcoming us to the community.
After seeing other pics of boats with windshields, we are looking to get another one for ours and some other parts also, so if anyone has any leads or websites, please let me know. Thank you all again.

There was a Starflite windshield for sale in the "for sale" forums on this website. Pretty sure they guy only wanted $50 for it plus shipping. Starflite windshields can be hard to find it seems.
