Opinion on possible purchase please

2011 pulsare LD.

Hello, Not sure what exactly you're looking for but I have a 2011 Checkmate Pulsare 2100LD with a 2010 Merc 250 ProXS. Runs 82mph consistantly. Have seen 84mph a few times. Boat is in great shape. White with purple and yellow trim. Looking to move because a new rig is coming shortly. Listed for $27,900.00 with Coty Marine in Toms River NJ. Just throwing it out there. Steve.

I've been going to various marina's/dealers in the area but I'll tell you it has been incredibly hard to make it to any of them with the traffic this year. I leave from GTA east at 4 and don't get to Barrie until 6:30. Double R and all other dealers I want to stop in in the area close at 6. Our cottage is in the Killbear area so not a quick drive mid weekend. Now that I'm in a position to actually buy the boat (started doing research/looking last August) I'm more confused than ever.

What I *think* I want is a Checkmate style boat (been looking at Checkmate's, Baja's, Donzi Classics, etc). The comments above that a Pulsare 21 will be horrible in 2-3ft water made me rethink. I boat on Georgian Bay, I wouldn't go out seeking 2-3 ft water, but I've gone out enough times on perfectly clear days with perfect forecast and in the worst instance caught in a (5 minute) hail storm with the biggest waves I've ever been in transiting Pointe au Baril to Britt.

After reading that comment and spending some time thinking about what I WANT and what I NEED I feel like a 21 Pulsare might not suit. I went to look at a few *utility* style boats (2015 Stripers, 200CC and 200DC) that look 100% happy to begrudgingly take 3ft + waves. Not the boat I think I want, but if the check can't handle being caught in 3ft waves then I don't think it will work period on the water I'm on.

Specifically regarding the boat at Double R, I spoke with a salesman there over the phone and he didn't inspire any confidence in me. He didn't have much information on it (the ad isn't even correct) and made the statement that its not the type of boat they normally sell, its too small and not what their clientele look for - which may be correct, but from my perspective it really seemed like he didn't want to answer many questions. He did seem honest for the few questions I did ask. The wrap makes me nervous because who knows if it is hiding damage (no one knows the original owner?) and at some point recently it required a new longblock (cause/fix of underlying issue unknown).

I'm still looking because I don't want to miss out if a decent deal comes up, but I'm questioning whether the Checkmate would be a good decision given my use.
 
Agree! I had a 210 pluse which I loved on inland lakes and Lake Erie with less 2' waves but more than that got the crap beat our of me. Stepped up to the 24' convinor and made all the difference on big water.
 
Boats still there. Thinking they might be willing to deal. Any real negatives aside from the rough water capacity? Is it going to be a dog with the 200efi? Any estimates on speed? Pretty sure it is slower than the sport tier for my insurance (60mph?)

I think there's a pretty good chance that a Pulsare 2100 long deck would do over 60mph with a Merc 200efi. My guess is that it would get high 60's and possibly low 70's if it's properly setup. My Pulsare 2000 BRX did 57mph with a Merc 150 carb and the BRX is a heavier boat than the 2100 long deck because it's a full-liner bowrider.
