Hi folks Just thought Id try to show a picture of the 87 Diplomat I just bought and what kind of state it was in when I found it. Like I said in the Welcome Forum Any and All info about this model will be very welcome. Thanks,Butch:welcome:checkmate005.jpg

Looks like that lucky boat just got a 2nd lease on life.
Some people gotta worry about barnacles. Others........weeds.
Welcome to the site!

How much does it cost to by a decent plastic tarp and a dozen bungees? People are dense. If you are going to let a boat sit and rot, why not just sell it? I have a neighbor down the street with a run of the mill OB 18' boat that's never covered.... ever. He's bright enough to leave the bow tilted up for water runoff, but the kicker is there is a cover and it usually sits all balled up alongside the boat. Wingnut. Good luck with the resto, hopefully we'll see you tuned up for spring! :thumb:

You Think The Outside Looks Bad. LOOK At The Inside

Hi Folks!! Found a picture of the inside JUST hard to think people let stuff go like this! Good news is I just talked to Mike at Checkmate and found out the seats wont cost as much to redo as I first thought and the swim ladder is still being made. So My winter project wont take two winters to finish.checkmate001.jpg

YIKES! My thought is to very carefully inspect the floors and stringers if you can get to them. I see a whole bunch of $$ to spend on this boat before it's usuable and even more $$ until it's puuurty. There is no worse feeling than going to allot of trouble restoring a boat only to find water has comprimised the structure. Yeah, Mike at the factory rules. For little $$$ you can have a brandy-new interior. Good luck again, just proceed carefully! :thumb:

Thanks Winter! The floor is good , no soft spots I pulled all the carpet up and the fiberglass dosnt even show wear . The boat was kept with the bow up , That and the sun really works wonders on interiors in this state, But the ole girl will be brought back to life. Oldreeferman

Thanks,Big Red. I would love to go look at it and see what all I can use , since I am only 25 min. from Statesville. Thanks Oldreeferman
