Ok, so now i got my trim senders replaced (What a job that was!) figured i was already in it knee deep might as well replace all the bellows and the gimble bearing and seals. put new blowers in, replaced the hack job of a bilge pump from the P/O, working on putting actuators in for the engine hatch, Just waiting on the reverse polarity switch to come on the brown truck so i can wire that up. figured out that the power steering cooler was coming apart at the welds so i took that off to have it fixed. just down to a few things left to do do and i should be able to dump it in the water soon, my goal is by the end of the month! Will post pictures as soon as my phone decides to quit locking up on me! :eyecrazy: on the up side i went to the OPA races in tawas this weekend so i got the bug to finish mine up and get it in the water!

well, I got to put it in the water today, IT FLOATS!!! lol, did pretty good up until i had issues with the fuel lines getting vapor locked. idled all the way across the lake and it kept stalling, figured out that the vent line was plugged up, undid it and ran ok until i got up on plane for a while and it locked up again. going to reroute it and give it another try.

Slightly loosening the fuel cap will temporarily help a lugged vent line. Just be carefully not to get water in the fuel. When you reroute the vent make sure it doesn't have any low spots like a sink drain j trap. This will cause excess vapor to turn back to liquid and have fuel sitting in the vent line.

I opened the gas cap thinking it was vapor locking and it still caused an issue. i even took the check valve off thinking it was restricting the flow enough to cause a vacuum and sucking the fuel line dry. Now i am down to just the bottom of the tank having crap or sludge in it blocking off the pick up tube and when it runs out of fuel it releases it and lets it fire back up again. hell i don't know at this point. i might even put a portable tank in it and see if it has the same issues. process of elimination at this point.

I did that on my boat and determined it wasn't fuel at all,,, good luck, keep plugging away

What did you find with yours? any help at this point would keep me from going bald, lol. i keep thinking maybe that tank has a pick up baffle to keep fuel near the pick up tube and maybe something got into the tank and keeps floating into that baffle and clogging it up.

Mine ended up being electrical.. Cap, rotor, etc,, I'm assuming you already replaced all that though. I ended up putting a temp electric fuel pump in with a couple gallons of gas in a sep tank, ended up running the same, I started re thinking my thinking to intermittent electrical problem and then I hit paydirt. If you have not put a new cap on do it yesterday, the number one easy fix headache of all time

Yup, already did the cap and rotor and plugs and wires, Got great spark, Just sucking the lines dry, I'm going to pop the sending unit out and take a gander down the hole and see what all is in that tank. I'm sure that i don't want to know! lol. I'll keep updates on what i find.

Has the tank ever been flushed out? Being that the boat was swamped you may be fighting that or multiple electrical gremlins. When the original damage occurred was is salt or fresh water?

The tank hasn't been flushed out. It was in fresh water. I pulled the sending unit out and found a. Chunk of black tape floating around and a chunk of wood and looks like some dirt road on the bottom. I bet that is the issue.

I would think that had to put down the filler neck. Previous owner must have pissed off girlfriend. That tape was probably get sucked up.

Installed my new electric actuators today, I'm not a huge fan of the gas shocks that were on them originally. on the plus side i'm going to go dump it in the lake today after i get out of work and see if i solved my gas tank issues, keep your fingers crossed that it gets up on plane!!!
