While you were gone, JW got me in trouble over on Scream and Fly

HEY GANG>>>

I'm BACK.... (you CAN'T loose me that easily!!!)

I was/am looking at a F13 that I fond sitting in a storage yard... As I stated on S&F (and NO, I didn't delete anything), this was a brand new boat that has never been drilled for a motor but has been sitting outside uncovered for the past several years... good hull, shot upholstery! I'm just curious what I should offer the guy???

P.S. Greg... (Scream & Fly)... you need a 300X on that Whaler!!!

Was it the Fantasy or the Paradise?

The Fantasy version had fiberglass problems. Lots of delamination.

When they do sell on ebay they seem to be going for between $1,000 to $2,500.

I don't know for sure how well the Paradises were built, but the were in business for a lot longer than Fantasy was.

Lets see some pictures.

cool lil boat

Well there was a couple of people talking about the Fantasy/Paradise boat and a couple of them wanted to know where to get this telling them exactly where to get one.

I told them.

That I was getting ready to build that same boat, and here it is.

It would be called the RealityGTX.

RealityGTX-008.jpg

and then below the pic I put the specs.

Like this:

L.O.A................................13ft-1in
Beam................................66inches
Approximate Weight............300pds
Fuel Capacity.......................6 Gallons(removable)
Maximum Capacity...............2 Persons
Max HP Rating......................50HP

Standard Equipment:
Single Ride Guide Steering
Custom Steering Wheel
Color Keyed Bench Seat
Speedometer
Marine Horn
Bilge Pump

Optional Equipment:
AM/FM Stereo w/CD and 2 speakers
Tachometer
Radar Wing

M.S.R.P..............................$4,500 Standard Edition

and then I put a link to the site right here: www.realityboatco.com

While JW did encourage me to post about the boat, he may not have expected me to put up a post like that. But I did get an IM later from him with the message"ah ha ha you got edited" or something like that.

I suspected that it wasn't gonna last.
that's a hot looking lil boat I bet she'll fly with a 80 hp on her

Scream-n-Fly

I got in trouble on scream and fly for posting about vynil stripe layouts , I forgot the rule about adds. I do have a question for you senior guys? I bought a lower unit from STVMike on scream-n-fly he said he just got a parts motor and would sell the lower unit well, I ask is it good and he said the shaft turns free so I thought that ment yes well ( Hell no ) Pops has it and was going to take it apart so he could get the shaft shortened for me well I bought a 550$ boat anchor Pops said it was in salt water and was junk he can't get the carrier out of it , so I sent a email to STVMike and webmaster on scream-n-fly and haven't heard from either. What can I do guys??? I make sure I'm very very honest about what I sell. ( opinions please ) Reed

I'd take that up with the guy you bought the unit from, you must have some other contact info from him.

I consider any parts motor to be junk, until proven otherwise.

I have he won't reply, basicly I think I got screwed, I don't do business like that I try to be totally honest about what I sell. ( bad karma, what comes around goes around ) , I guess live and learn, I will value the honest people I have met on the Checkmate-site and here is where I'll buy parts in the future.

Reed, I'm sorry to read of your misfortune - I do not recall receiving any emails from you, however. When did this transaction take place, and when did you send me a mail? My email address is gterzian@screamandfly.com.

Also...

No website is immune to foul transactions. Since Scream And Fly (and most other forums) allow public registration without collecting and verifying personal information (credit card numbers, etc.), the potential for unsatisfactory transactions always exists. Even if we did collect said information, there is never any guarantee (i.e. Ebay) since nobody can predict the actions of others. That's the case with any transaction - Ebay, local newspaper ads, etc.

Greg makes a ggod point!

I always do things 100% honest & open... But buying anything "used" is subject to selling opinion and to be honest a lot of unknowns... Like buying a used car and the trans goes in a month... sometimes you just never know when something can go???

One way you CAN protect yourself is do some homework BEFORE BUYING. You can look up a forum member, see how long they have belonged, and even read through their old old post to get an "IDEA" who you are dealing with FIRST!

OK, now that "that is said".... this thread is now:offtopic: Jim.

COOP... the F13 I was looking at is made by Paradise Boats and the model is a Fantasy 13... I was thinking like $2000 max with the trailer, considering it would need a complete interior and serious wet sand & rebuff???

That sounds about right to me. Does it have the same look as the original Playmate or is it one after the changes were made? Take lots of pictures.

If thats all it needs it sounds like you may be getting a better deal than me on my Fantasy.

Just my .02 cents on a couple of matters...

(1) Sometimes people need a little reminder that Scream and this site are for the most part free. But the bill is being picked up by someone, trust me on that. Given that, it gets frustrating as a webbie when business people, or just people looking to make profit show up on your site and start using it to earn and profit when you're (the webbie) not. I've asked a few commerical advertisers in the past who clearly posted messages in our buy and sell forums and were not approved to either step up and become a supporting vendor or stop posting ads contrary to the rules. And more than once I've received emails back full of expletives. And I've also received some nasty ones after removing unauthorized commercial posts. I'm currently asking vendors who want to take advantage of our forums to step up and donate a minimum of 100 bucks a year. And, also to clearly identify themselves on the forums and to look after our members in their dealings. And if they aren't willing to do that, then I say we don't need them here. To give you a little perspective, I own a couple of paint and wallpaper stores up here in Toronto, and just this week one of my managers and myself were looking into placing an ad in our local paper for an event we're planning. Price.....1/4 Page ad 700+ bucks one time.

(2) I've never seen anyone who runs a classier forum than Greg. Scream is all class. They say things trickle down from the top, well Greg is a class act. He has always, ALWAYS! been there offering his help to our site. And to me that's Greg in a nutshell. Always helping. But listen, if you want open forums, until they invent a message-board a-hole filter there are always going to be jerks who screw people. It's a sad reality. And they haven't been well publicized, but we've had a few sour deals on this board too. BUT, NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, does more to help out members of a free forum more than Greg. He does it all the time. And many of the whiners I see on Scream are the same guys that have posted 100's of times and have never bothered to drop a buck in the kitty once in a while. Personally, if I was Greg, I probably would of hit the ignore button on a few people by now. But yet, I always see him helping people out. He's a great bloke.
