Usually Winter Doesn't Bother Me...

You know we are having a rough winter when I woke up to an inch of snow and the weatherman never even mentioned snow yesterday.

During a mild winter those idiots are telling people to stock up on bread and water for a 1"-3" storm. :shakehead:

Say all the nasty things you want about winter but I know that there are two things I love which wouldn't be possible without it.............
Skiing and scuba diving.
If it was nice here all the time I would never leave and travel to warm sunny areas to dive.
And as for skiing........need I say more?
Is anybody but me enjoying this ski season?

Are there seasonal restrictions on Scuba Diving in NJ??? If you are traveling south to do your Scuba diving then that kind of defeats claiming to love winter.

I usually enjoy snow skiing in the winter as well, but as I posted earlier, it is not in the schedule for this season. I bought a new set of Vokal skis last year too!:brickwall:

Sim, where do you usually ski........NY? Do you ever come up North to Vermont/NH?

There are people who dive year round in nj waters, lots of nice wrecks- I think they're nuts.
As for me, I'm kind of spoiled, I like clear, blue water 80 degrees and warmer.
There is no way I can justify flying down to the carribean during warm weather when I can be out soaking up rays on my own boat. That's why I like winter.
On the east coat I buzz up past you a few times a season. Mostly Stratton- Sugarloaf, Maine and a few other places. 2-3 fridays a month I'll stay local and ski Hunter, Camelback, Blue Mountain.
Going out with a bunch of buddies 1st week of March to do 4 days at Copper and 4 days at Winter Park. Going with wife and son out to Vail for 6 days early april.
Spring skiing is the best. Deep base, abundant sunshine and boating season right around the corner.
What's really cool is that the feeling of a perfectly carved turn on a slalom waterski is identical to the feel of a well carved turn on snow skis. It's like being a yo-yo on a string attached right to your belly button.

Went to the boat show over the past weekend and that made me go and start working on the boat and trailer. Well that then made me want to take a week and head south.(wife won't let me) Today it was 45 out and then they said that this warm weather is not going to stay around. Moday's high is going to be in the low teens. Can't snowmobile or ski anymore.(bad knees) So I figured that I will just work on the boat spend lots of money that I don't have and that should make time go by alittle faster.

By the way does anyone have any pics of a 79 apricot colored exciter? mines wrapped and i dont have pics of it yet and i forgot what it looks like.

its above freezing

How about spending the entire weekend chipping the ice off the driveway so the oil truck will come down and deliver oil (they won't touch it if there is ice on it). That is a 2-fer...wasting the weekend and then having to buy the oil:brickwall:.

Looks like you got double teamed by No. 2 & 6.....OUCH!

I have to admit that I did ride my snowmobile on Saturday and I did have a riot. We went bar hopping on the small river chain that we have here (Swan Creek, Shiawassee, and Bad rivers for those of you here in Michigan:cheers:) and managed to find a bon fire on the ice where beer drinkers had gathered. Even though I had fun it still did not squelch the feeling that due to the crappy economy I still have not even sold one stinkin snowmobile:brickwall:......spring is getting closer and I need the money to dump into my Checkmate:thumb:

Hick...

always has the sweet pics!

If I had that view on my deck (with an "e" not an "i") all winter, I would sell the boat and move to Antarctica! LOL

On another bright note...

It is supposed to be 50* here on Friday and the Sun is not setting until after 5PM. :bigthumb:

Darkness at 20 after 4 (PM) is so depressing.
