Pics of BigReds new boat

Ok here is the deal with my new boat. I have known about this boat for 3 years. Three years ago a guy from NC bought this boat from Florida with one bad engine. He brings it to a friend of mine which does mechanic work and has him pull the bad engine out. The guy takes the engine to have it rebuilt and never returned. WTF. About a year ago I kept bugging my buddy what are you going to do with the boat and he said he was going to pull the drives off and sell them and the trailer. I told him I wanted the boat to stick in my pond and leave it their for a joke when he got done.

Not ever paying any attention to the boat or shape I decided to go over 2 weeks ago just to see if I could buy it all, so I could part it out. After further inspection of the boat I realized this thing was nice and just needed a bath.

NOW THE GOOD PART :D

As me and him always due we start trying to talk a price and as usual he wants me to make a offer. But I never make the first offer because he will only add money to that offer. He finally says I will take a grand and I said that's for the boat and trailer right, he said I guess. I told him I guess I could do that. So their you have a deal of a life time,, 1000 bucks.

The boat has 347 original hours on it. He was kept on a cover lift until 3 years ago when it was purchased. I know this because I found pics inside of the original owner and the drives still shine. The hull is scratch free and is solid the cabin is very clean. The boat came with twin 4.3 v6's 1 engine is missing most brackets are their,, the other engine is untouched.

The boat was never registered in NC and as we speak I am working with Florida DMV to get the proper paper work.

This is a win win situation because every dime I put in this boat I can get back because I only have a grand in it. I like the room inside because I can stand straight up and walk around and my wife loves the full bathroom. Its no rocket but I can cook on it and keep lots of beer cold and have a crap load of drinking buddies on it.

What would you guys do it was not really what I pictured owning next but I always liked the room on them.

In all reality the other engine also needs to be pulled and rebuilt. And I would take both drives off and take them apart for inspection.

You can't go wrong for a thousand bucks, the trailer is worth more than that and it looks like you could through a good shaker on there, in good shape too :offtopic:you should see this boat that a guy built at my lake for partying on, It's 12 feet wide and 28 long with 8 foot walls, bunk beds inside and a deck on top with a waterslide and controls for the 50hp Mariner, a 2 foot long 2x4 for a steering wheel, complete with vinyl siding and windows, it looks like a garage on water, next year I'll take some pics of it.

BR, that's a helluva deal you got, I would've bought it myself. I look forward to seeing pictures on the lake next year. :thumb:

Looks like a great deal to me. I think it would be fun to have a boat like that. A boat with a bar, two of my favorite things.

I think I will fix it its to nice to part out. Just waiting on paper work to make my final decision.

Carver's are VERY well built and reputable. In the yachting world, Carver, Trojan, Viking, Broward, etc.

That's a heck of a boat and looks like it's immaculate. You could put $20K in it and still be ahead!!

Just a crazy thought, and I'm probably opening myself up for complete ridicule, but could you put a couple of smaller diesels in that thing?? Crusing efficency, miledge, resale, etc, etc. Don't know if that makes any sense at all...

Bingo brother on power, and yes Carver is the Cadillac in cruisers which I knew nothing about till this purchase

I have already kicked alternative power around even going to 1 healthy BB Chevy. But if I went their the stringers need to be cut and modified and I dont really want to do that.

Second I thought to small blocks with straight threw hull exhaust that would give me the v8 sound I am going to miss and they will bolt in fine and be easy on the Alfa's. But the cost of exhaust and the other BS will kill me on value and even worse with 2 bb.

So here is what I have been kicking around I being the person I am. I know in my head the other engine probably needs a rebuild plus the last boat inspection ran out in 03 so that means it probably has not been cranked since then.

The best way to go I think is 2 brand new turn key 4.3's for 5200.00 each. I already picked up a good running tired 4.3 to rebuild but I think for the money that adds up with all the BS parts that new is the best way to go. And the 4.3 is also the cheapest way now.

What do you guys think this 4.3 is complete turn key Exhaust, bell housing, mounts 100% turkey.

only way to go red, full warranty to, i assume, if so, that's a no brainer decision. throw 'em in

nice find red, it would have been a heck of a deal even if it had to be paddled. 4.3 or diesel, either way good power. hopefully will be able to tie my mate off her next year at lkn. mine would look like a dinghy. you could always rig it with a couple of outboards.....

wtf??

That boats for old folks:poke: what she top out at 40mph:sleep:
But hey man, whatever floats your..lol.. I'm not sure I'd have
stepped out of that sleek red Convincor into that sled you have now
but if you were looking for a floating apartment you found it!:shakehead:

On a serious note: If it makes you happy it was a good move!:thumb:
Enjoy. A friend has a 38' er with all the whistles and bells and it's a
great time to go out on, but not if your in a hurry, def built for comfort!

You stole that thing man, a no lose situation if you ask me!

Congrats:cheers:

So...why isn't it in the garage? :poke: Don't give the "too big" B.S. Build a bigger garage!

Nice Boat!! Now that's cruisin' like a P.I.M.P. !!:thumb:

Still kicking around buying a speed boat but I got sick of people near my red boat. I got to the point where I only liked me and one other to ride. The cruiser was not really in the game plan it just happened. Yeah 40 is probably real ball park figure but the ride will be awesome and I wont spill my beer.

I am going to try to stick it in my lower shop where I kept my red boat next weekend. I did a major wash job on it a cleaned the bilge out. I think once I get it to the garage and flatten the tires and stick the tongue on the ground with a tractor. I can get that windshield to clear the door opening. I am talking I will be flirt-in with about a inch
