'88 Starlliner... Anyone?

Thanks BADBK. :thumb:
I've only bought one boat here (my Enticer last year) and back then the seller put down the purchase price on the bill of sale (wasn't itemized) to be ~30% what I paid for the tax factor.

I was hoping to get the same angle again this time, but it sounds like itemizing it with a heavier value on the engine is my way out of asking the seller to lie upfront. ;)
It does look like a VERY expensive engine afterall - Gold plated I heard!:rof:

Bought a Hydrostream in Va last year and took three bills of sale with me and had the sellor sign all three and get them notarized, including whatever titles they had. Also did the same for another Hydrostream I bought in Florida. Ohio is about as picky as a state can get and I hd no problem.

Ask the seller on the phone if he has a title for the boat and a title for the trailer. State to state and year to year the required paperwork changes. In NY older boats and older/smaller trailers get a transferable registration newer boats and newer/larger trailers get a title. Even old cars here use a transferable reg. Hopefully one of the VA boys can chime in since it has been my experience that you need the correct paperwork for the state it is coming from, not going to. For example, in PA you need the title notarized when you sell something, I bought a car there and when I went to reg it in NY they wouldn't do it because the title wasn't notarized even though NY doesn't require it but because PA does. The trailer is a piece of cake to get around and if there isn't papers for it you can use that as some bargaining leverage. Very easy to get a Maine plate for the trailer, it can be done by mail, and its good for 5 years instead of just 1.

Congrats...

nice boat. You're a member of the Checkmate Elite now...Startliner owner. We're smarter, better looking and, gosh darnit, people like us.

What can I say - I was Enticer-ed in to this close knit group of Legends!
(Now if I could only work out this ridiculous secret handshake you all have! :pissed: )

:D

It's true. Liners are "Da Bomb".
Make sure the guy signs over a title for the boat AND a title for the trailer.
You don't get the secret handshake till you show up with the goods.
Should be real cool getting a picture of all three of our Liners lined up smiling on the beach.Welcome to the club! She Who Must Be Obeyed will find the ride much kinder to her derriere.(That's French for "de rear", "rumpus", "Tuchus").
By the bye, did you say "Sims gin palace"? Is that an Irish thing?
:welcome:

Wikipedia:
"In the 20th century, the term "gin palace" came to be used for large ostentatious pleasure craft, such as a motor yacht or luxury yacht, typically moored in a marina and fitted with a sun deck used for outdoor entertaining and leisure, normally involving alcoholic drinks"

Basically used to describe a bigger boat that one lusts for....

Hopefully I get to start my next fling with my new beauty on Friday.
Hubba Hubba. :eyecrazy:

Thanks man.

I've got the bag packed, toolkit, trolley jack, spare lights, spare motor support, 2 wheels off the Enticer trailer as spares (new tyres), wheel nuts, etc. etc.

Rolling out of home tomorrow evening to get 4-5hrs covered before grabbing some sleep and hoping to be at the destination by 9-10am Friday. Should have me home by Friday evening all going well.

At least I won't have anyone telling me what to put on the stereo or to turn it down for 16hrs behind the wheel! YEAH BABY!

Time for sleep.

Have a safe trip, the boat looks to be in exceptional condition. I hope you at least have to buff it out otherwise the only fun you will have is using it!!!

The funny thing is that there's a box full of sanding/compounding/polishing kit beside me here at work on my desk for the job I was planning on the Enticer this weekend. Now that I might havea buyer for that, I'll save my arms the effort.

I'm hoping this Starliner is as good as it looks so it only needs a polish every now and then.

I'll try to get a photo or two up (from the iphone) when I see it tomorrow morning.

Looking forward to the pics. Let me know and I'll come down and we can have a couple cold ones and hit it with my buffer.

Kris,

Did Sim tell you about the "Not So Secret Starliner Club"? We meet once a month at a bar in the Morristown area and the newest member buys the drinks. :D

Now it's no longer secret.
Q.And for how long does the newest member have to buy drinks?
A.Only until the next member joins.

good times

So if you end up pulling the trigger, I think someone owes me a finders fee! :D

Thinking I can cut a hole in the front deck of the 'flite and throw some lawn chairs up there and join the club! A little redneck engineering!

Can't wait to see the picks. Safe travels!
