80.3 in the Pulsare

that is great speed out of a 225.
how much do you like that Solas?

Best prop by far on the Pulsare. Come down to Bogbash on the 14th of sept and give it a try! I can still take the kids tubing with it. It runs 78-79 with two aboard and 75-76 with four.

Just an update I added two more inches of set back for a total of 15.25". Runs 82 each and every time, I think there may be a bit more there with my bigger wheel but I'll see. Runs 77 with five aboard and a half tank of fuel. The boat drives way better IMO with more setback, carries the whole boat high and dry and no porpoising that I couldn't correct with trim. Much less sensitive to engine height as well planes out NO problem at 2" above the pad, I don't have to adjust the plate from idle to WOT.:)

That is very impressive. I need to try one of those props. Issue I have right now is both my kids are really into wakeboarding and I need speeds of 14-18. And best to be on plane to maintain it. My current setup works 11.5 set back but depending on the wake and fuel I have to have spotter sit in frond to keep boat on plane.

I put a drag style planing plate made locally by Baicour Machine, that and a few kids in the bow keeps it on plane pretty good for wakeboarding. I have two teenagers as well... I feel your pain lol. Damn tuition is cutting into my boat fund.

We should get together this summer and your welcome to try one, I have a 26" and a 27", but they run like a 28" & 29". 1:75 ratio gearcase same as yours (unless you have 1:62 Sporty on it), currently turns the 26" right at 6000. I have not tried the 27" this year.

What pitch

What pitch solas as are you running? What would you recommend for a mercury pro xs 250 standard 1;75 gear

Hey Kushog. Awesome numbers.
I'm curious if you had to buy new cables, steering and controls, to get
your motor back so far?
I need a setback plate bad but don't have, a lot of time for tinkering.
Our season is so short. I just want to be in mine as much as I can.
Thanks.

I would say a 26" for all around. A 27" would probably be better for max speed though. Don't let the small numbers fool you, they grab very hard on the top end.

When I re-rigged the boat four years ago I had 13.25" of setback and I left enough slack in everything so I could move it back more if I had to. I don't see needing any more than I have now, she's a tad flighty on the top end as it is.;)

Well I went ahead and bought dream4ta's 250 Yamaha. I'll be running my existing HPDI lower unit and my 26" Scorpion prop to start. Only difference will be powerhead HP'S so we will see. The 250 is ported different than the 225 so it "should" have more up top hp's. 85 would be nice but high eighties would be better lol.

28 scorpion

last year i picked up a 28 scorpion prop for my 21 closed deck w/300xs. It was a dog for 50 ft then got up on plane. full tank of gas a 70lb battery for the system and 30 lb for the engine,so there was a ton of weight in rear. So this year i put on a plate for planing out, and i drilled 1/2 vents into the prop. I have not ran it yet so. I do wish i got the 27 instead .It Ran 80 last year but motor is way to low, i have 14 iches of set back but motor is still1 inch below with a bobs lift!
85 on the nose. I think there is more left but I'm happy with that number for now.;)

You will turn that 28" with the motor up. If you have a 14" bobs plate only it will never get there. You need a static set back with some lift built in and a plate on the back of that. I'm an inch an three quarters above with 15.25" of setback. The scorpion 28" will run like a 30". I had the local prop shop drill holes to install merc pvs plugs.

I had a hydrodynamic setback made last year but it didn't have enough pre Jack.so I will have another plate made. My bobs is a 6 inch .

Glad to hear it runs! 85 in a bow rider with a little old 250 yammy is hauling the mail my friend!!

Now call Hydro Tec and start ordering parts for that beast and start making them 300's feel real bad!! :poke:
