Ok so I just found something else.. the lower unit is totaly different on mine compaired to the 86 115 parts motor I have mainly the hub diameter is 4" on mine and 4.5" on the 115... does this maybe have the smaller gearcase on it or is it just the difference in years?

Where would the quicksilver stainless props rate?

    Not fast enough!

On the anode tab I swapped to newer style one which is smaller than my orignal one I couldn't clear any prop I tried for some reason I'm guessing the motor ran a small diameter prop to begin with maybe that's why I'm having these issues to begin with. So that makes sence why you can run the...

Need some input here sence I minuse well try something different with prop seems to be a concencus.. as someone stated doing a 19p 4 blade should be perfect for my setup.. I don't wanna dump $300-400 on a stainless one as i have no idea if this is my problems.. can anyone recomend another good...

Timing is 6º at idle and 20º full advance just like manual says.

I just had another thought on that.. when I put new timing trigger in I had to adjust the timing a lot from where the old one had been.. I also had a junk cdi box so I wonder if spark was erratic and not giving me a correct spark to time by.. ill recheck it tonight tho!

Makes sence I never really did understand how they want you to set all the timing while just cranking doesn't really seem like accurate setting. But I guess it all depends on where the throttle lever is in its travel anyways.

No I realize that just saying in theory it would rev unloaded no problem. Ill try playing with the timing next time I get it out. I set the timing and synced it as instructed in merc shop manual with timing light.

    Not fast enough!

Ok makes sence on ventilating term. They are both aluminum 13" props ones a merc prop others a michigan prop nothing great.. I still don't see why both props allowed the motor to turn 5000rpms but yet the 21p only made the boat go 30mph while the 17p goes 40mph turning the same rpms... In...

    Not fast enough!

Ok no the motor will rev up to like 7k not loaded I just can't get it to turn up loaded.. geez now that I think about it could exhaust be plugged up or something on it? So no matter what under load it won't go past that? That might make more sence why I had no rpm change when going from 21p to...

    Not fast enough!

Well the not going with any throttle was air in the fuel process of elimination came down to the quick connect on engine cowling so just bypassed it seems to be running fine and has no more bubbles of air going through my filter. So back to orignal concern with the 17p prop I can't get it to...

    Not fast enough!

About to go find a new motor at this point.. had a bad power pack cdi bought new one now it fires on all cyl. Put 21p back on took it out turned way quicker n felt smooth n faster but was only going around 32mph at 5000rpms. Swapped the 17p back on would still only turn 5000rpms but would go...
