    1977 Convincer Starter

Need some help with my 77. It is the I/O and I believe it is a 305. At times, when you turn the key, it will only click once and then dead. If I try 2 or 3 times it will eventually turn over and start. Is this the starter? Also, if it is, where can I find a replacement for this age of boat...

    77 Convincer glove box insert

Need a glove box insert for my 1977 Convincer. It appears to just be a slide in plastic insert that is hinged for the door. Does anyone know where to find parts like this on these old boats? Thanks in advance for the help.

What color is your boat? Mine is brown and gold. Looking forward to the long weekend. This will probably be the last time out this year for us.

    dont see many old i/o's

mmeditz I have a 77 Convincer that we purchased from my Father-Inlaw a couple of years ago. I believe it has a 302 in it. I love it, not only because it runs like a champ, but because you just don't see old boats like this anymore. I always get stopped at the ramp, or on the beach and asked...

    1977 Convincer

Thanks for the tip. Do you see many of the 1977 Convincer's? I have tried to look it up on the internet, but it doesn't seem like there is much information about them. We love ours. It is a real eye catcher.

    1977 Convincer

Any tips on what product to use to keep the boat finish from fading? Purchased 77 convincer last summer and it is in showroom condition. The boat was used very little prior to my purchase, so it is out in the sun a lot more. I just want to make sure that the gel coat doesn't fade. Any help...

    1977 Convincer

Anyone have any experience with a 77 Convincer? This is our second summer with our new (1977) boat, but am having a hard time finding any information on it. It is a 1977 Checkmate Convincer with a 188 mercruiser, and I believe a 305 in it. I will try and get pictures posted so that you can...

    Trim Cylinder

I recently purchased a 77 convincor, and had the trim cylinder crack this weekend. Does anyone know of a place to get used replacement parts for a boat that age? I can get it new from Mercury, but it is a little pricey. Thanks for any help. Chad

    1977 convincor fuel filter

Checkmate, We just purchased a 77 Convincor. You are the first person that I have seen that has one. Do you have any pictures? We have run into a similar problem with repairs. We lost one of the trim cylinders this weekend. Mercury still makes the replacement part, but it will be two...

    1977 Convincer

Chris, Thanks for the link. That is my boat exactly. Even the same color. We are going to pick it up this weekend out of storage. Can't wait to get it on the water. If that boat is in excellent condition, is $3,500 a good price? Thanks, Chad

    1977 Convincer

Boomer, Thanks for the reply. I looked at the title and it is listed as a 1977 Checkmate, 19' 9" in length. It has a 302 in it, and is brown and gold metal flaked. It has the convincer emblems on the side. Thanks, Chad

    1977 Convincer

This is my first post and I am looking for a little help/information. I recently aquired a 1977 Checkmate Convincer. It is immaculate. I/O with an open bow. I have looked on the internet, and am not finding anything that resembles this boat. Looking for any information on the brand, model...
