    Pulse 185 setback?

My jackplate is 10". In my research, most people are saying 10-14" for a 185/186 Pulse. I found C-Mate 280's comments on page 3 of this thread helpful: http://checkmate-boats.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1211&highlight=Pulse&page=3 And here's some comments of my own...

Pulse 186 Porpoising; Jackplate & Smart Tab?

Interesting that neither a 4 blade prop nor the jackplate solved the issue for your friend. There is a spot in the tip under the bow cover where sand could sit without even being seen. That might be the simplest fix. So, I guess the real point of the jackplate would be speed, and looking...

Pulse 186 Porpoising; Jackplate & Smart Tab?

Thanks. I'm a cheap skate, and I'm ok with a single manual jackplate setting that would probably favor high speed, or else just find a height that helps with the porpoise issue. I did find one particularly insightful resource on the general subject of porpoising, if anyone's interested...

Pulse 186 Porpoising; Jackplate & Smart Tab?

I realize I gave a lot of info and it might have buried the main point of my question. I'm considering buying a 10" jackplate to eliminate porpoising on my Pulse 186. Is there a reasonable hope that this will work? There's a used one local to me now. Thanks! Grant

Pulse 186 Porpoising; Jackplate & Smart Tab?

Hello Everyone, I've read through several threads regarding porpoising on Pulse boats, in my case, a 186 with a Mercruiser 175 Xri mounted to the transom, with a stainless Stelleto 23p x 14" 3 blade prop (10323 m1423). I realize that some or most of what I'm about to ask might have been...

    91 Pulse 185

It's been a long Summer. I had to have the Merc rebuilt, and then had some other delays. Finally got the boat out on the water today for a top speed run of 58 mph @ 5600 RPM. I don't have a jackplate, just a 23p stainless 3 blade prop. It gets out of the hole fairly quickly, but plenty of...

    Saint Croix 2019

Make a wake! Around 4pm today, the St. Croix River FINALLY dipped below 683 feet. We can finally make a wake this year. Unfortunately I won't make it to the river this weekend, but I plan to be there many times this Summer. My (new to me) Pulse 186 is getting an engine rebuild. Hopefully it...

    Even More CL Finds!

I watched the auction right up 'till the end. If somebody would bid in the last 10 seconds, they'd extend the auction by 5 minutes. That happened a couple times. I'm Pretty sure it was $7550. Not sure where they're getting their number from.

HOW FAST IS YOUR CHECKMATE? EVERYONE!

1987 Enticer with 90 HP Mariner Tower of Power. 19 pitch stainless prop. 43 mph on gps with 600 pounds of people and gear. Would I see much gain with a jackplate? When I'm going fast, especially in chop, I keep it trimmed way down for the most part.
