    SCT's 1969 Checkmate V191 Raceboat restoration.

That would be one sweet Checkmate to have on my lake! I totally understand the whole 'lost interest' thing. I've got a 1976 Jeep CJ5 that took almost 20 years to resto/mod. I thought it would be a life changing experience to own and drive. Not so much. It rarely gets driven, and is taking...

    Need boat buying advice!

^^^ Absolutely these two items (along with the other advice). Just for info: The dealer I bought my last boat from charges $140 an hour flat rate. And IIRC, $160 an hour for boats over 10 years old. Labor is expensive.

Yep, I noticed that too. I wonder if he disconnected it and only uses the foot throttle?

I've been watching this boat be listed on/off Craig's, for the past couple of years. He's still a bit high on the price, although it does look nice. I had to look real close at the port side photo, and it does look a big 'tweaked', but I think that is a camera distortion. Yeah, don't know...

Considering I sold my BBC/Bravo 1, 1995 Persuader 219 back in the fall of 2017 for $7000, that seems to be outrageously priced. Or is it?????

I'd love it a lot more at $4500....

Thoughts? Any thoughts on this: https://grandrapids.craigslist.org/boa/d/jenison-checkmate-17ft-spectra/6899346592.html Looks to be around the size I'd like, although I'd prefer a bowrider.

Yep. One of my buddy's dad owned the local Oldsmobile dealership. He let his son use a brand new 1968 442 for the night. IIRC (it was 51 years ago), it was dark blue with white interior. 4 speed car, I seem to remember. A really beautiful car (as was the Buick GS).

:rof: No... It's that imitation blower scoop. That's good for at least a couple hundred horses. Image #4 https://swmi.craigslist.org/boa/d/union-jet-boat-for-sale/6853845171.html Look at the upper most manual. It's for a GM Oldsmobile 'Rocket' engine. So I'm assuming it's still got the...

    Persuaders?

Pic of my 219 hooked to the wife's 2014 GC Summit ready for a 100+ mile trip: As I posted earlier, no problems towing it. Even with the cruise control set, it never missed a beat, rarely downshifted (no mountains, but some hills), tracked fine.

I wonder what was done to the 455 Olds to get 550hp.....
