    1982 Checkmate Sportfire Restoration

Worth saving for sure. Chances of finding a Sportfire windshield are pretty slim. If the glass is ok you may be able to find a local boat top shop that could help you out. Or find some parts online that could be reconfigured. It is a simple design. BTW the Sportfire is the closed bow version of...

    Checkmate Factory Promo Video

That video rocks. Love seeing how our older mates were built. Only the floors sucked, as they did not fully encapsulate them in fiberglass. Everyone ended up re-building them eventually.

    The Ideal Starflite Prop!

RD, congrats on the new power. How did the 25 work out for you? That motor should make the Flite rip.

    Memorial Day in lower Keys

Nice! Yours is my favorite Checkmate on the site. I remember when it was built and was featured in one of the boat shows. Maybe Philly or Pittsburgh? How's that $10,000 Mitcher T paint job holding up?

    BRX 2400 500R Repower

Very cool ride! Where are you going to find a lake big enough to run 95 mph near Kindersley SK? Lake Diefenbaker?

    Fastest Starflite on the site??

Got it. I misunderstood. Hopefully some of the Merc guys will jump in. I am not at all familiar with those gearcases. Should be a fun with the new power. I really miss my Starliner. I still have the Diplomat though. 40yrs old this year and in perfect condition. I use auto ceramic coating to...

    Fastest Starflite on the site??

Haha... I am probably not the guy to ask about Merc lowers. Maybe a Merc guy will chime in. I can tell you that the Starflite likes a 250. Without the pad of the Pulsare they need that extra kick to get them out of the water and pull decent numbers. 26" of setback? Seriously? Show us a pic!

    Fastest Starflite on the site??

Here's the old thread on it. Highest back then was 87.1 https://checkmate-boats.com/forums/threads/starflite-top-speeds.2158/

    Ouch - floating log impact

That is a nasty mess for sure, but every Checkmate is worth fixing. If you have insurance that would definitely be covered. If not, it might be too pricey for the value of the boat. If it was mine and I had no insurance I would probably just use glass and resin. Sand it very smooth and paint...

    89 Starflite 150 force max mph 42 ????

The guys claiming 70mph with a 200 are lying. I think I got 61 mph with a 200 EFI 24p Tempest prop. I also never gained any speed when I raised it above 3.5". The reason in part is you start to lose lift. My favorite prop was a 25p Rev 4 (which most people don't know is actually a 4 blade...

    89 Starflite 150 force max mph 42 ????

That's a nice looking ride with the red! Definitely a keeper. I totally miss mine... but you can only own so many boats at one time. Or so my wife says.

    89 Starflite 150 force max mph 42 ????

And I realize you know all about these hulls. Just giving you my .02.

    89 Starflite 150 force max mph 42 ????

Congrats on the new ride. Starflite is a classic. They do require some horses to get the most out of them. Not trying to discourage you but the Force 150 is pretty light duty for that hull. Only 5 cylinders and 2L displacement with a 5250 max rpm, they are meant for a much lighter boat. If and...

Just going to leave this here.....

I for one and thrilled to see the 21 and 24 come back from the dead. Thanks for saving those molds from the landfill. Coop I wish you the very best and hope there is an investor out there that will be able to help you start cranking these things out.

    Predictor Pad Repair

Cooprider is the expert in such matters. He might answer a PM. I would probably just use kitty hair body filler to fill the holes and then polyester fairing (or even just bondo) to finish. I used bondo on my seadoo hull that was all scraped up and it worked fine. The key is prepping the surface...
