    Nose cone/engine height/ water pressure

Just read the article above about nose cones on heavier type boats. I am doing an exciter and was planning on putting a cle on it. Sounds like its not necessary or the best idea. So what are you guys running for height and how are you keeping water peressure? When i pulled the motor off, the pad...

Stock vs Coned lower vs CLE gearcase

Since the general consensus seems to be that a cle/sportmaster gearcase is not right under 80 plus mph, what do you guys run? Stock case with holes closed up, or coned stock case ( which should be the same result as cle) Exciter, 200hp 2.4 plastic reeds solid mounts 6in setback new floor and...

Pulling carpet out of an Exciter

Whats the best way to get it out. Looks like when the floor and transom were redone, it was glued in pretty well. Thinking about pulling it out and gelcoating the floor, so i don't have to worry about it holding water. Heat gun, or just box knife and rip it out?

Since i have 3 of em, 26 pitch 3 blade drags, anyone try these type wheels on older checkmates? I know they work well on lighter tunnels, but wondering about my exciter. When i get all my new crap set up, i will have to try one.

    checkmate exciter motor height/jackplate setback

Yea, thanks for the info. I am not looking for ultimate top speed, but would like to see 75 to 80 out of it. I knew the answer was a lot of setback, but am trying to make it easier on the transom. The floor and transom was redone recently by a reputable fiberglass shop, so its solid. I am...

    checkmate exciter motor height/jackplate setback

Am putting a jackplate, drilled mid, hydraulic steering, and a cle gearcase on my exciter soon. Any ball park ideas on motor setback and height. I will be using a cle so i can jack fairly high. Will be starting out with a 24 pitch chopper II, so i need a fairly high engine height. I was thinking...

    Checkmate repeat owner

Hello, just bought my 2nd checkmate (in 34 yrs), a 85 Exciter with a 175 Merc. First one was a brand new 84 Enchanter with a 200 merc. Always loved my Enchanter, hope this one will be as much fun. Got some questions down the road, as i hope to upgrade this one with several things, mounts...
