January 2012, Boat of the Month Nominations!

Sorry brothas it was quite a long night at the local watering hole the night I put it up and voted for it. If the mods can take the vote off or the entire boat, I'd be just fine with that.

    234 b/r

Didnt read previous replies thoroughly, may have been said before. I wouldn't even consider it. I own a 234 and it is a bit heavy and with a 23degree deadrise, cuts into the water pretty hard. At 70 though it does feel lighter but it takes some smoke to get these puppies up high out of the...

    Question about an '84 Check

Not sure myself, but it shouldn't matter either. You'll likely want to promptly swap that little motor out for a high reving small block right off the bat ;)

    Help w/ Headers

Glad no one brought up EMI's. While i'm sure plenty of people had good luck with them, i did not due to a poor cooling design that ate up some pretty expensive exhaust hoses. They eventually fixed the manifolds but not before i was out a good bit of $$$ on new hoses and removal and re-install...

January 2012, Boat of the Month Nominations!

I'd love to stay in touch with this fix if you follow through. Good luck with it, it would be neat to see it repaired and finally fixed up as it should be.

    starflite pics after flood

Oh wow. Sorry, a bit late to the discussion, but that appears to be, sadly, my old boat. I bought that puppy to get me through a summer that i didn't have a boat in order to wait for the right one to come along (open bow and bigger). It wasn't in great shape overall but ran very well and never...

    School me on trim tabs!!!!

i think your boat is light enough that adding more tab may help lift the boat out of the water better, at higher speeds. My MX16 was a handful at 80+, chine walked like mad, i coulda used big tabs too!

    School me on trim tabs!!!!

this is a really good thread, as i'm sorta new to tabs myself. I had some 18" lenco race tabs installed on my persuader, overkill to a degree, but better to have too much than not enough. I found myself playing around far too much with them in conjunction with the trim. The last time out, i...

    water temp?

Coolant temp isn't quite as critical as oil temp, though they are related. While coolant temp should be higher, maybe 150-160 in 70 degree water, you want to make sure your oil temp is up to spec. If it's too cool, you run the risk of poor lubrication properties and not having enough temp to...
