Steering wheels...

Anybody? If you get me some accurate measurements so I can make an adapter for my Grant wheel I will make an extra and mail it to you!

I would gladly do this myself but my Mate is in another state.

Time to call the factory I guess.

My Starflite has Seastar hydraulic steering.

I guess my question is this: if I buy both the 3/4" round tapered and the Mercury square tapered adaptors will one of them fit? I will simply return the unneeded part.

Thank you.

This is mine. It has a new center cap now, the spokes are in great shape, but the foam grip is a little twisted up. They still sell a new version of these, but I don't think they're the same. The new ones are chromed steel. Mine is more of a brushed stainless. The chromed steel center was rusty, so I'm sure the spokes would have been also if they weren't stainless.

Rob, it looks to me like the BayStar/SeaStar systems use a standard hub (3/4" tapered), but someone here should be able to say for sure. That's pretty much the standard now. I think the old square Teleflex went away a long time ago. My Teleflex Rack is 15 years old or so and has the 3/4 tapered shaft.

Just ask for a marine hub adaptor. They are all the same 3/4" tapered shaft with keyway. Grant seams to make the hub adaptors for most companies(steering wheels) so you shouldn't have to worry aboat the "bolt pattern" on the hub. If you get an original boat wheel you do not need an adaptor because they are all made to fit the tapered shaft.

No they are not, Most smaller checkmates including I/O's use ride-guide steering and it is a square tapered shaft that the steering wheel adapter bolts to. Mike had a gorgeous white MoMo leather wheel I bought from him at last years poker run.

You need to pull your wheel and see what type of shaft you have, Mine is a 86 and still had the ride-guide steering setup.(thrubolted thru hub adapter and all.)bolt under steering center cap goes all the way thru the back with a nut and a cotter pin to make sure it does not come all the way loose.
