tore the floor out of my enforcer

I have all the floor removed from the cockpit and under the splash well and am currently working on the foam removal. The stringers look to be in good shape. There are a couple of things I have noticed.

1. The foam in the cockpit area had water in it and seemed to only be slightly saturated up to about a 1/2 inch next to the hull. the closer I got to the cabin; the drier the foam. However; even up to the cabin when I would pull up the foam there would be water between the foam and hull. I'm guessing water has migrated all the way into the cabin under the foam. The floor/bunks of the cabin look good and solid but I'm thimking I'll have to remove the rest of the floor just to dry out the cuddy:brickwall:

2. There is/was a flat "center board" that appears to run the entire center line of the boat. That board was glassed over under the gas tank and glassed over in the cabin. The portion between the tank and cabin wasn't and it was completely rotted. I removed it, hoping that was all. it wasn't. Seems that board forms a pseudo tunnel running the entire length of the cabin and cockpit. Top is glassed only in sections and the under side was not. This gives me another reason to tear out the cabin floor and foam.

My question(s) is this; in the enforcer was the floatation compartmentilized before it reached the cabin? or is it one continuous flowing piece from transom to bow?

and last; does the "center board" run up all the way under the cabin bunks and foam? or does it stop short inthe front entry of the cabin?

I know this may be clear as mud; I'll try to post some pics tomorrow.

The "false" floor under the gas tank was built for drainage from the forward compartment to the transom. There is probably a bulkhead under the floor about even with your cabin entry. The "false" floor would probably not run past that bulkhead. Checkmate filled the voids with foam to the sides of the infloor fuel tank and forward of the tank. I would remove all the saturated foam. Chances are you may have some stringer/bulkhead rot that may need to be tended to. I rebuilt my Pulsare using a PVC pipe cut in 1/2 and glassed to the floor under the fuel tank for drainage. There are a couple of threads you may want to view from the teardown and rebuilding of my Checkmate.

Thanks for the link. I read the whole thing. You have alot of good information that I will be using:bigthumb:

While tearing more foam out of the stearn, I noticed the stringers were very dark under the glass. They have felt solid from the beginning, but when I tapped them w/ a hammer they made a dull thud. I took my saber saw and removed a small piece. Totally rotten! completely saturated and black.

It looks as if I will be replacing my stringers all the way up into my cabin. The floor is pretty solid over the bulkheads, however I definately have water under them. I drilled a hole in the base board at the forward part of the vberth and found the foam to be saturated. On closer inspection I can see some of the plywood has water marks along the but joints. Once I get all of the foam and floor removed I'll begin measuring the stringers. Any tips on the proper way to take the measurements?

As soon as I can get photobucket to load some additional pics I'll post them. It's been alittle slow tonight.
 
my only advice to you is to rip it all out and start from scratch, then you know everything will be 100%. i thought i might get lucky on my rebuild, however, that didn't happen, which reminds me - i have to find the deck in the snow i know its in the yard somewhere!

Thats some funny stuff right there.

Thats some good advice. Rip it all out and start fresh. Build it better, stronger, faster.
As far as measuring goes I took notes when I was tearing it all apart on mine. This gave a base line for the installation.
 
Thats what I'll be doing; replacing all the stringers; and floor. My son and I will begin tomorrow afternoon. I have been taking alot of pictures and have been drawing schematics of the current layout. I'll use them as reference once I begin the actual replacement.

Franklin is considered part of the Nashville metro area. We're right on the county line of Williamson and Davidson Co's. Great place to live and plenty of lakes and rivers. As close to a land locked boaters paradise as you can get:D

Didn't get to work on the enforcer over Christmas; spent all my time helping the boys load their new games w/ batteries and gettin my wife set up w/ her new computer. Hope to start again this weekend.
