How many Checkmate hulls did Caldwell make over the past few years? Not very many I think, somehow that was a missed opportunity, shouldn’t be too hard to beat.

WHM. Class One. Motors.

***BUYERS BEWARE***
CALDWELL MARINE DESIGNS
PETER CALDWELL and JENNIFER CALDWELL
In early 2025, months before the start of this year’s race season, WHM Motorsports purchased two (2) 1100 hp Mercury Race Engines from Caldwell Marine Designs, who we believed to be a reputable Mercury Racing dealer. The plan was that the engines would be shipped directly to Billy Moore of Moore Performance Powerboats so that Billy Moore could install the engines and re-rig, the WHM Motorsports race boat, giving the team enough time to test in advance of our first race in Pro Class 1. This unfortunately did not happen. Instead, Caldwell Marine Designs did not pay Mercury Racing in full for the second engine, resulting in Mercury Racing’s understandable refusal to release the second engine to Moore Performance Powerboats until it received payment in full.
After several unsuccessful attempts were made by Billy Moore and representatives of WHM Motorsports to contact Caldwell Marine Designs and its owners, Peter and Jennifer Caldwell, who apparently used some of the money that WHM Motorsports paid them for the second engine for their other business and/or personal bills and expenses, a second payment for the balance of the monies due Mercury Racing was made through Douglas Marine Corp. While Moore Performance Powerboats was able to install the second engine before the LOTO race, this left WHM Motorsports team with no time to test various setups, adjust weights, and dial-in the race boat before the start of the race season as planned, which was beyond disappointing to our team who had hoped to have a better showing during our debut race in LOTO in Pro Class 1. In the end, we were just happy to make the race to support our new class and everyone in LOTO that helps put on a great race. It was a really a good opportunity to test according to Billy and Jay!!!
WHM Motorsports was going to initially remain silent and give Peter and Jennifer Caldwell every opportunity to refund the money due WHM Motorsports without the need of making their wrongful conduct public and did not want to unduly tarnish their reputation over hopefully what was a one-time poor decision on their part, and not a pattern of dishonest business practices, since WHM Motorsports had never done business with them before and was not aware of complaints, but they have continuously ignored our attempts at resolving this matter amicably, which is actually worse, in our opinion, than making excuses for their wrongful conduct. We completely understand that businesses just like people go through tough financial times, and if that is the case, own up to it and work out a mutually agreeable repayment plan. To simply ignore all of our attempts to work things out in hopes that we go away is the coward’s way out. If anyone knows Billy's business philosophy, he does not care whether you owe him one dollar or millions of dollars, he will treat it the same, and he will not back down and will spend whatever it takes to get his hard earned money otherwise in his line of business he will gain the reputation of being an easy target as opposed to the reputation that he proudly has ~ not to mess with Billy ~ Most definitely do not want to be on the receiving end, especially when it comes to stealing his money.
To add further insult is reading yesterday that Peter Caldwell has sold one of his companies to Velocity Powerboats and is also receiving accolades and awards in his industry. Well maybe now he can use the buyout money he received from Velocity Powerboats to pay back WHM Motorsports and any others, like WHM Motorsports, he may have defrauded.
It is extremely disturbing that the racing industry has some deceitful service providers, which only harms the good and reputable ones. An individual’s character and reputation are of utmost importance in business and to steal from your customers is unacceptable.
It is most unfortunate that it has had to go this far and we do not take this lightly.
***WHM currently has an action pending against Caldwell Marine, Peter Caldwell and Jennifer Caldwell in the Supreme Court of the State of New York for breach of contract, in addition to allegations of wire fraud, fraud, misrepresentation, diversion and misappropriation of funds, as well as deceptive and unfair business practices. We anticipate being successful in this action. Fortunately, WHM has the financial means and a good attorney to the pursue the matter, but not everyone is so fortunate***
