Crushed Checkmate, anyone?

There is a former boat salvage yard on the way to Easton, MD, across from American Outboards' current location. The property was up for sale and has now been sold. I always drove by every day, and I knew that I saw a bunch of old Checkmates in there. I wanted to for so long to go in and stop by to see what they had and what I could salvage. Of course, I dragged my feet, and it is now too late. My neighbor went up there last weekend, and these are the pictures he sent me.

The property probably had maybe thirty boats, most of them being old speedboats. All of them have been on trailers and in a condition that could've been restored. Now, they all live in this pile.

Likely a few hard to find parts lost to that destruction. Windshield frames, ladders, steering controls. Hatch hinges and cover locks, bow rail ends and hoops. But not very many are looking for that stuff anymore, not a lot of boat restoring going on.

Yup. I could've 100% used that windshield, or at least the framing, the cleats, a bunch of stuff. Ain't nothing I can do now.
