14 ft checkmate and 150 inline merc

jbierly

New member
I resently got a 14ft checkmate giving to me with no motor. I was plaining on picking up a motor for it then I got to thinking after reading some threads that the merc 150 in my garage might work on it just looking for a little advise making it work if it is possible.

I do not know the modle of the checkmate it is 14ft with a closed bow.

The merc is a 150 hp inline 6 I am guessing mid seventy's

Thank you

Sounds do-able to me! Wildman had a 225 on smaller than that.
Don't forget to post pictures of your new cruise missile.

I would say not for a beginner boater. Wildman has years of drive time in 100+mph boats. I can say the 150 on the back of mine was a handful!

With a rig like that you won't be a beginner for long.
1 of 2 things will happen to change your status fast...........:rof:

:cheers:Well thanks for the feed back I understand it will be quite a bit over powered I have been boating for a while just never had one that will be this small and fast.

Are there any weight distrabution concerns I need to consider I was thinking that I could relocate the battery and fuel tanks up front under the bow.
