1979 eluder help needed

every year I get some project to bring back from near death and return it to its former glory. usually I stick to cars or jet skis. this will be the 2nd boat ive done and to be honest I lost my a## on the bayliner I did last.
when I first saw my eluder I fell in love with it. it just looked fast sittin on the trailer and I got a killer deal on it for 450.00. I knew it needed some upgrades asap. so I went shopping for a motor. scored a 135hp rude 200.00 and figured that would be "Good enouff" come to find out the stator is bad no worries boat recyclers has the parts. I was well on my way when I see an old raven go fast boat for 500.00 and come to find out its a buddy of mine. a trade for an old jet ski and I got a cmc hyd jack plate, sea star hyd steering and a 175 rude that had a bobs low water pick up that's now gone. so I need a foot and its internal condition is unknown. I also broke a coil but no worries. also got a full set of gauges transom tuffner. POWER TILT AND TRIM YEAAAAAAA finally.
so hears my isues.
1 what motor do I put time and money into. the 175 is my first choice but will the lower unit from the 4 cyl. motors fit on it?? I really don't want to have to go to the boss for more money.... and compression as well as ignition is a mistery.
2 the steering lines were cut at the helm so I need to replace the ends on the hoses. I can use a reuseable fitting I can get locally as I am aware of the concerns with these lines as well as the cost of them.
3 what can I expect for a top speed from the 135 and 175 im not killing myself for 10mph its not a race boat nor am I getting in it that deep.
the rest of the parts all swap and the raven is now a reef where it belongs
ill post some pics as soon as I figure out how to work this crazy site.
the 85hp is a 78 85895c/ ser J0002827
the 135 is a 74 135esl74b/ ser j4001733
the 175 is a 87 j175txcua/ ser r75013225

just looking for some input as I am confused with too many options thanx in advance
