Back during the summer I bought a 79 checkmate trimate iv 3.7 mercruiser, it's a slow process put a new floor and had the seats redone want to redo the carpet any suggestions for carpet? Any tips for the seat boxes how to cover them? It's my first boat caught my attention it looked fast on the trailer lol and I'm restoring a 79 Chevy 4wd frame up so I figured I'd find a boat and do the same for a combo. The motor ran well but kept backfiring think the points are burnt haven't had time to check. Best I could get was 42 with a lot of surging at 2800-3000

Looks good, I'm not a big fan of gluing down carpet. I plan to epoxy the snap head to the floor of my MX-16 so that the carpet can be removed. I've seen to many rubber backed carpets trap moisture against the floor. Just my 2 cents. I like those front seats. :thumb:
 
Thanks buddy of mine mom does upholstery they were funky and the floor was shot repaired the whole floor with 3/8 upfront and 3/4 in the back and glassed it all in so I can put a ski pylon in I was thinking of painting the seat boxes when I paint the boat and trailer. Need to fab some speaker boxes the 6x9s and the amp mounted under the dash do just fine when that big merc 470s wound up
 
You got a couple of nice projects goin there....
Keep us posted on both projects {I always wanted a matching combo truck/trailer/boat}.

As redstrat mentioned --- I also am not a fan of glued carpet, it does lend itself to trapping moisture.

I'm interested in what your gonna do about the seat boxes {by the way I like the seats you have} ---- what about putting a couple swival pedistals in.
I'm doing the interior of my Check over and I'm struggling with what to do about the seat braces/stands

It has them little John boat swivels in there I was thinking of smoothing the boxes out with some light bondo and finish getting the peeling clear off sand the aged gel coat and shooting the boat top and boxes with a burgundy metallic on top and a very bass boaty silver tons of flake on the bottom tint the front glass 20% and polish all aluminum to chrome like. Just waitin on warmth lol

The front seats been lookin around here a lil got some ideas but ideas pop in my head all the time thinking of sending the top pads out and getting the checkmate logo embroidered in them... Lol I'm always customizing
