1992 Starflite questions

Hello from NC. I am currently looking at a '92 Starflite with a Merc 2.4 BP. My question is I have not seen many, if any, Starflite 's with hydraulic jack plates. If I purchase this rig I will eventually swap out the BP for a new Merc 225 or an SHO225 (I know, blasphemy!) and was wondering if a jack plate would be something to investigate when I do it. I plan on making this possibly my last boat (yeah, right) and although I don't want to set any speed records, I do like to go fast and get the old adrenal glands pumping from tim to time. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this and I really enjoy the forum. Much more pleasant than the hull truth.

I had an 88 Starflite with a 2.4 200 and ran 6" of solid set back and a 6" Hydraulic jackplate. I would absolutely say you should invest in a jackplate. You will pick up quite a bit from it!!!

Starflite question

I for sure agree that investing in at least a 6" (hydraulic) jack plate would be the way to go. I am surprised it does not have one already with that motor. I am running an 87 Starflite and have always had a jack plate. A new 225 PRO XS would push your boat really well.

I've actually never seen one without a jack plate. I'd go 10" CMC hydraulic. Good unit and decent price....I put one on a Starflight with a 225 Optimax several years ago and it ran mid 70's.

Correction, the Starflight I'm referring to had a Pro XS not Optimax.
