1992 Starflite SPEED

GAMBLER

New member
My son and I just got a 1992 21'starflite, we have a 1988 220HP XRI merc on it, This engine had a new power head put on it in 2000, it seems to run very strong. We have not had a chance to do anything to the boat yet, as we just got it a couple weeks ago. he has the motor bolted to the back of the boat, about 2 inches up. he has a 21" SS Quicksilver prop on it now,, just an all around prop, not a speed prop. The engine has no set back at all. With it set up like this, we are running 6300 rpm and 62mph on the speedo.. not a gps set up. My question is, what kind of speen can I get out ot this 220 on this boat. we are going to a hyd jack plate with 6 to 10 inches of set back, still want to get more ideas on how much set back, and was looking at a 23" laser prop. All comments will be welcome. Im sure some of you have already done this all with this type boat.
Thank you
