2.0 on 2.4 mid???

I just aquired an '89 2.4 200 with at least a damaged head and piston. I am going to rebuild the powerhead as soon as funds allow but would like to use the midsection in the mean time. Can I mount the '83 2.0 on the 2.4 mid? if so, is there anything out of the ordinary I need to do?
Thanks for any input or advice.
Update on spectra...Sanded in garage awaiting primer.
