"Wanted" 20" Mid section for Johnson 175

may i ask why

Basically because I think the engine is too long for my Checkmate with the 25" section. I picked it up not paying any attention(or lack of Checkmate knowledge), and now I have some issues. The motor was on a Trimate 2 and it was so low that the mid section was parting the water and causing it to spray everywhere.

I also was thinking about using a jack plate but that might not be enough lift for me. I don't need optimal performance(would be nice tho), but I just need to stop the water from spraying.

Let me know what you guys think.

I'm trying to hang the motor on a 20' 1980 Enchanter btw. Would the boat be any taller by the trancsom then the 77 Trimate 2?

It would be the same mid section as long as it is a V6 and they are both looper motors. The cross flow uses a differant adapter plate and tuner but the mid section is the same. and you will need to change shift rod to a 20 in. most lower units use a 20 in. drive shaft with a 5 in. jack shaft added.

Jdb, I'm interested. How much are you asking, and where are you located?

Water Bug, where would the shaft extension go, top of the shaft, or somewhere in the bottom in the LU? Just asking, as I don't see a extension up top(got the lower off).

I'm near Mobile, Alabama, I am going to be away for the weekend, but will keep in touch and get back with you a price. I will make it easy on your wallet.
Jeff

I'll take $200 for the mid. I also have the matching lower unit for it too for sale on ebay for the buy it now price of $300, which is a steal for a great lower unit with torque tab. I also have the clamp and trim unit too. I am parting the motor out so I probably have all the parts you would need to do your project. Here is a picture of the motor on my boat. You just don't find many motors this old that look this good
