77 V-Mate-I Restoration

I want to get started on my restoration this year. I bought the boat off of a guy....who bought it off of a kid who wanted to make it a drag boat. Now I'm stuck with all of their mistakes.
Question #1: Where can I get a new winsheild? Any ideas?
Question #2: Graphics....looking for original....someone know a "Guy"?
Question #3: Gel Coat or Polyurethane Paint? Pro's and Con's and what should I do?
If ANYONE have any helpful ideas, hints, tips, or tricks....I'm all ears.

I'm not too sure about the windshield but I would check out Taylor Made. My V-Mate II had a sticker that Taylor Made made it but I'm unsure if they make replacements. Check out http://www.taylormarine.com/prodcatalog/productcat.htmlhttp://www.taylormaraine.com

As for graphics, I would browse the gallery section of the forums. I would assume that it's two tone being red and silver or blue and silver. I'm not sure who "guy" would be that you refer to?

If you're going to refinish the exterior, I would stick to a paint as re-gelcoating an entire boat would be a real nightmare. Look into Imron or something similar that's been discussed within the restoration forums. There is a really good thread somewhere that discusses this in detail.

Hope this gives you some help and direction.

Trim Tabs?

I have 2 old school trim tabs on the back end. Their cast aluminum with a threaded turn buckle to adjust them. Can I safely remove them since the motor has electric tilt/trim? They have been damaged by previous owners resulting in the trailer breaking off the corner of each of them.
