84 Diplomat With 150 Johnson

I just put a 1985 GT 150 Johnson on my 84 16' Diplomat and I was hoping somebody may be able to get me in the general area with picking a prop. Mostly a family boat towing tubes skis and knee boards. Had an old 4 cyl 80 hp Merc on it with a 19p. I am thinking around a 14 1/4 x 21p prop is what I will need but don't really have the money with a new baby to play with different props. Any ideas?

I'd put a 4 blade Renegade on it. It will give you great holeshot and hold a steady speed when doing watersports. Not sure about the pitch because it depends on how strong the motor is. Maybe 21" but possibly 23". My 130HP turns a 21" 4 blade to 5500 RPM. Yours being a 1985, unless it has been rebuilt, 21" might be enough.

Thanks for your input. It only has few hours since rebuild and vro unhooked. Can't wait to finish the interior again and try it out!

I had a setup similiar to yours and ran a 22 pitch raker. It gives you a lot of bowlift and a pretty good holeshot too.
