88 Spectra 170 Jack Plate Install Questions

I am installing a 6" manual jack plate on my 88 Spectra 170 soon. My question is what precautions should I take to be sure the transom will hold up to the additional stress of the setback? Are the original transom plates good enough to provide support for the jack plate, or should a larger support cap be fabricated.

I intend on using just these transom backing plates if at all possible:

-along with the factory plates on the outside of the transom

But do you think that something like this is necessary (from another user's thread on here):

If the Bob's Machine plates are sufficient then I would rather go that route from a time and cost perspective, but I have heard of additional stress causing problems so I want to be sure that there will be no problems.
