'88 Starlliner... Anyone?

Wondering why you'd say that sim? Mine has never been redone and the floor is solid as a rock.

Mmmmmmm.....hubba hubba!

Is there anyone local (Bassett, Virginia) that could check it out?
I don't mind driving down to get it, but I don't want to drive the 8.5hours only to find it's a 'project'.

I could put up with the 150 for a few years until I upgrade to a 225 or 250 Merc.:D:D

Sorry. Didn't mean to offend you. Your baby must have been kept indoors it's whole life for that. Checks are notorious for some "aging" (see "mulch") around their floors, stringers and transoms. Have you looked around your bottom end lately?
Again, I don't mean to impugn the integrity of you, your family or your ancestors or your floatingbaby.
BTW- Were you and Chris able to get together this weekend or were the skies too weepy?

I was in PA on Saturday chasing an odd shaped ball, hitting old guys and being hit by old guys on the rugby field. Sunday I attempted to recover.

We're meeting this Saturday at my place Sim. I should have the supplies this week to do the job on the Enticer. Feel free to drop up, and as I said before - room on the drive for your boat.

I hope to get some more details on this tomorrow from the owner.

Again - if anyone is in the area or knows the boat, I'd appreciate any advice/info.

No offense taken Sim. Just pointing out there are some good ones out there. Mine was supposedly garage kept as is this one is being advertised as. Next time your up you can check my bottom end if you'd like. :nohomo:

I'd buy it. I paid $2000 for mine knowing full well it was a wreck I. (I've sold the bimini, a prop, the motor, and the trailer so I'm only into this hull for $1000 right now) You'd be getting a lot more than twice the boat at twice the price. The 150 is under powered though...but if it runs you could get a couple grand out of it...

Seeing more Starliners out there now. They were pretty rare for a long time, but seem to be making a reemergence....or is it resurgence? Resurgence.

At that price, I'm expecting something to be amiss.

I paid a tick over 7 grand for mine in the shape that one is advertised to be in with a fresh rebuild on the 200hp engine. It might have been a little on the high side but it was a water ready boat and pretty much all the stuff I've done to it was stuff I wanted to do rather than needed to do with the exception of the rear seat back, driver's seat bottom, and the panels that go from the floor up as you pass through to the bow.

Mine is 88 as well and we only found one bad spot on the floor, at the battery box location. My son cut it out, about 10" square, and the foam underneath was dry and clean. So we just patched it up by making an overlaping piece and then added the same piece on the other side, so when I screw down in to mount the battery holders, I will not be drilling into the original floor. I just thought no sense in creating a problem where there is not one. Also we added another set of knee braces, laminated and screwed to the original knee braces, which were rock hard, since an '08 250 Pro Xs will be hanging on it shortly and I also wanted to be able to add significant set back if needed. When you look at boat, take a scatch "all" or very small screwdriver to probe.

How much does a solid '08 250 Pro XS sell for? If one could sell the 150 Yami for 2k, It would take around $10k to put a nice 250 on the back wouldn't it?

It looks like a setback bracket and jackplate are also required.
I wonder what that transom is like.
That Yammy would be perfect for my 16ft deep-v back in Ireland (if I ever bring it out here!)

I've heard nothing back, but more and more tempted to go down for it as the day drags on.

atc250r - I might have to put off the boat polishing this weekend (and just as the supplies are being delivered this week to my desk!) :p
I'll let you know if there's an impending 18hr roadtrip on my horizon.

It now looks like I'll be hauling my a$$ down to VA on Friday to look/buy this Starliner. Just have to get the vacation time arranged to get started early. :thumb:

Spoke to the owner this morning, and he's holding it pending my arrival and decision. He had sent on some more details on it last night and it sounds like a hardly used boat (in recent years) that he's owned for the last 5yrs - his neighbour had it before that. I understand it has been garaged all that time.

Topside and interior looks in very good condition from a few photos he sent me, and he mentioned there's a few marks on the hull from beaching and hitting a rock at one point (remains to be seen).

It put a little tension in the air at home when I bounced the idea last night, but lucky for me she had experienced "Sims gin-palace" last summer on Greenwood, so she knows what we're getting.
I just have to sell the Enticer soon to get rid of the "boat yard look" on the driveway! :o

Can anyone tell me what I need to do in terms of paperwork at sale time? Do I need a notarised bill of sale from the current owner? Anything else?

Congrats!

Fork over cash, get title... not sure how your DMV is, but a itemized bill of sale always helps me avoid some taxes. Only pay taxes on the hull/trailer so I make sure the motor accounts for 75% of the purchase price!
