" For Sale" 89 Starliner Yamaha 225 Excel Blue & White $8500

Sam I am

Well-known member
For real. I used it two, maybe three, weekends all summer and I used my fishing boat about 30 times. So...I'm selling them both and buying a Ranger Reata 2050 LS w/250 Pro XS. I bought the boat from another forum member about 2 years ago.

I love this boat, just doesn't get the use and sits on the lift all summer while I fish. This boat is in good shape. Not awesome shape. Not a museum piece. Mechanically sound and runs great. First start is a little cold blooded as it's carbed, not efi. Runs strong and pushes this big boat very well. I haven't GPS'ed it, but it moves right along and airs out very nice.

Comes with a Zieman's dual axle trailer that is in good, not great, shape. I put new bunks on the trailer after I towed it to South Carolina and back. Very road worthy trailer. I just had a new tongue jack welded into the center piece. Haven't seen it yet as they put it right into storage. But I can still get it out as long as snow hasn't started flying. Once that starts it will be untouchable until spring.

Boat is missing the center walk thru wind shield. Interior is not original and starting to show signs of wear (vinyl is good, the wood is getting old and screws in hinges are getting loose.) Cable steering, but behaves very, very well. Trim it up, air it out, pin it and drive with one hand.

Decent stereo. Needs a new head unit as it's very difficult to read LED's now. But has good speakers, a sub and an amp. Only one battery.

I put a new used 6" CNC Hydro jack plate on the boat this summer. I used it once. Works fine.

Boat could use a wet sand. I'd love to put a new factory interior in it, but I just can't justify the cost when the current one is still okay and I just don't use the boat. Im afraid I already winterized and stored boat, but I can get it out for a buyer and haul it a ways if I have too. I was going to sell in the spring and ask $8K-$8.5K but I found a smoking deal on a Reata that I'll hate myself for missing if I don't jump on it.

Anybody in Canada, I go to Winnipeg often...

701- for for six - 6 to 7 seven or PM's are fine too.

Sam

Pics from when I bought it...would love to sell it this fall. I'm firm on price. Price goes up in the spring.

GLWS Sam!!! She's gonna make someone a nice starter boat!!:thumb: Both my brother and I have Rangers, you'll love that style!:thumb:

TTT...Spring is around the corner. She'll be coming out of storage pretty soon...I'll probably wet sand it this spring. She'll be all pretty for someone.

Have you done a compression check on the motor. If you still have it in a few months I will snag it up from you. Would you contemplate meeting half way. Since I'm a sold 25 hours away.

I know the compression is good, but I don't remember what it is. I think it's written in paint marker on each of the cylinders under the cowl. Glad you're interested, and I'd be happy to meet you, provided you pay my gas there and back. Not sure where you're at, but I won't go any farther than what I can do out and back with an overnight.

I'm thinking about bumping the price up in the Spring...so, a non refundable deposit would hold the price for anyone. First come first serve.

As a bonus I have the center piece for the windshield!!:thumb: Sam looks like I'll have to take the center piece to the UPS store and have them ship to you.

Yep...hate to see it go, but I'm a fishing addict now. Thanks Robbie!!

Sam, I had a guy (Jason Palmer) from Fargo looking for one when I was selling mine. He was very interested but it sold before he got the money together. Not sure he is still in market but I will pm his email address to you.

Clean, solid versions of this model are getting harder/rarer and harder/rarer to find.
I watched Liners specifically, for yrs. Saw maybe a 1/2 dozen in 5 yrs??

Only one of them was worth the drive to go look at based on the ad.
With my batting average of advertised condition being actual, I wouldn't have bet much on that one either.

Good luck w/the sale.

Assuming solid motor, those were great ones too.

Bumpety Bump...TTT.

I just got it out of storage today...battery is charged and they fired it up. Flipped right over. I'm going to shine her up and take current pics of everything and post em' up.

Sam
