is there anyone out there who maybe able to give me somewhere to start looking?
thanx.david

thanx. i know the boat hasnt been started in over 2 years. the lower unit went as soon as my buddy got it and it has been sitting. i am replacing some wood that was a little soft and pulled the tank and cleaned it out. im working towards the engine. i found a foot with low water pick-up. are there any johnson 300 experts here that can bring me up to speed on these motors. supposedly this boat has reached 96mph on gps.

thanx for the link. will try and post pix today. re the motor. it hasnt been started in 2 years and im wondering if i should just go ahead and rebuild the carbs? also i understand that there are reeds also. do i need to replace these? being that its been so long is there anything i should be aware of before i go forward. id hate to go half cocked and do something or fail to do something and cost myself unneeded repair. from what i know the lower units on these are weak is there anything else i should know? thanx all for the info so far
