a few mercury questions

hey guys, i have been around boats my entire life but have never owned a mercury and i have a few questions. I bought was i was told was an 87 boat and 87 200 merc however after looking at the serial numbers the motor appears to be an 89. the motor is a 200 black max with a single piece cover(not clamshell style). the serial number on the motor is c138750. my main question is are there anyway to tell that this motor is deffinately a 200 and not a 175? and is this motor a 2.4 or 2.5. sorry if these are stupid questions and have been answered somewhere i have tried searching and have not found any answers. Thanks in advance for any help i appreciate it

Serial #

87, my 1987 2.4 200 Black mota had a serial # of 0B155823 so I don't think yours is a 1987. I don't know what year they went to 2.5 Liters but I'm sure someone will chime in thats in the know. If you go to a dealer with your serial # they will tell you exacatly what you got.
