Now there is gonna be two

I clicked on this thread because I wanted to see what one looked like... not much info on these boats from what I could find, but a search turned up these:

Are you getting it from an auction, or is it the above boat? http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.narhiauctions.com/2009/april2009/Late_70s_Baja-Cobra_Speed_Boat_view-1_t.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.narhiauctions.com/2009/april2009/April2009.html&usg=__E672nUpEcmIzYE4Zv8gg-hGq5o0=&h=100&w=100&sz=2&hl=en&start=5&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=TZ76MY-uidyw3M:&tbnh=82&tbnw=82&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbaja%2Bcobra%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us%26ndsp%3D20%26tbs%3Disch:1

I just saw it was in MI...

Thanx for all the posts and don't stop em comin
In case you all don't understand what I do, just get ideas for the perfect resto

Well we picked it up and underneath the white paint on the deck is a blue metal flake and red metal flake with white stripe scheme. Wonder how many Baja did with a bicentennial theme.
What years was the cobra made?
If anyone has some history on the Baja Cobra please call me at 517-736-4523. Thanks
Hot Boat did an article featuring the Cobra, does anyone know he month and year?

Cmon.....no one knows anything about these?
I really need some info on this
Gotta be someone in Bucyrus that has seen a red white n blue one at some point
I swear I am gonna make this into the best Bicentennial blowout boat resto ever in the world!!!
Throw me a bone!!

I have not had much luck nor interest in helping out at the factory....more interested in selling big outlaws, not answering stupid questions about a boat that should have gone to the dump
I will try it and see....

I would think of it as a good customer relations investment for the future,
by being as helpful as possible now.

Wait, are you calling the baja factory or Checkmate calling any type of baja factory is useless because they no nothing. Doug runs Checkmate now and has a couple of his Baja side kicks their with him.

Thanks BigRed, I should have been more complete in my statement.

I have called manufacturers a few times with little more information than I already had.

They are not interested in their past history of boats that have already been sold.
I would think they would have a PR man that deals with the past boats, but i realize that as time passes, retro employees retire or move on to bigger and better ventures.

I can't say that i have stayed in one place simply because I enjoyed working there.
This boat is at least 34 yrs old. Unless Baja plans a celebration and comes across one that is pristine, I doubt they would be interested in answering any questions about this one.....until it's done and someone says "hey this guy has a Baja that would look good at one of our picnics celebrating our 35th year" Not looking for publicity but some info before I start restoring. I just want a direction if it is a Bicentennial edition. Hydrostream made like 50 Bicentennial Vipers in 76

I just need to take the time to call if I think of it. Oh, need to get a number, too....LOL

Baja found and restored Cobra number one years ago. One of the Sea Ray guys ran off with when they sold Baja. I've seen it up for auction a couple of times.

I would love to have it, but it is too complete, doesn't need anything....LOL
I am wonderin if some of their race boats were red white n blue
I may call him in a few days to see how much he actually wants for it.
