Boat landing Aholes

I have had way to many bad experiences at the landing the past couple weeks, so I just want to vent.. The last three times I've gone out I have had someone walk down the ramp while I am unstrapping the boat, with kids/dogs to let them play in the water in the lane I am using. One guy was there long enough for me to drive around the landing again and use a different lane.. I had a guy wipe down his entire boat, parked directly behind my truck so I couldn't back out, instead of moving out of the flow of traffic..

And tonight to top it all of, as I was backing my boat, a boat pulls into my lane.. So I stop an wait for him to move to a different lane, Nope, he proceeds to tie up at the dock and walk away.. I had no choice but to drive around the landing again and get lined up in a different lane to use... When I get back to the landing after a few hours, guess who is there up? Lane stealer! I pull up next to him and tie off.. I get done cleaning up and start pulling around with the trailer.. Lane stealer pulls his boat out and parks it directly in front of my boat.... I have to back into my boat from the next lane, weaving around his Mastercraft, so I can get into my boat..:pissed:

Some peoples lack of consideration for others is unbelievable..

Sorry for ranting, just needed to vent a bit..

Its funny but not.
You must have a busy ramp that there are lanes and still all being used.
I always go with the first come thought. If there before me then I wait, if not then they get out the way cause I'm backing in. Not really ever a problem. I'm pretty ok till a point, then I back in if I see a move that is just bs. Mostly I just shake my head and make butthole comments to those guys. Like "hey let me help you must be in a hurry". I do always get a kick out of the ones that pull up and stop to pulla plug or tie down or wipe off right in the way. Another butthole move I have done was to walk over with a towel and ask to help. Told the dude the faster we get him cleaned up the faster I could get in. Just imagine the tone and posture as I did this. lol

Yeah, it was pretty bad at our ramp last weekend, too. Only 2 lanes. As we pull up, there are 3 people in front of us, one blocking a lane, but not putting it. The other lane was open. A minute later a guy walks up and there is a boat that hit a log, busted their outdrive and is leaking pretty bad, so were are giving him the other lane so they can pull out quickly. I'm like no problem, but what's the hold up with the other lane.

So we wait, and they pull their broken boat out of the water - just enough to examine the busted outdrive, but not far enough for anyone else to use the ramp. The other ramp is still blocked by the same person. I'm pretty calm and patient, but my 2 companions are starting to make 'get your broken boat out of the way' comments pretty loudly. Finally the person in the other lane launches their boat, the people with the broken boat move their truck forward like 10 feet -still blocking the way. My buddy is about to explode, but they finally get out of the way and we launch.

On the way back in, a sudden storm pops up and there is a mad rush to the dock before the deluge. Everyone pulls in far enough to land their driver, then back out and wait for the tow vehicle to pull into the ramp, then load up. Well just as we start to pull in to land me some knuckle dragger pulls in front of us to land quickly. To avoid a collision we let him in first. Then there are a couple of trucks already in line to get their boat, and he decided to try to drive around and pull in the exit side. Well by this time I'm next in line, so I block the exit with my truck and trailer so he has to drive around again and go to the back of the line. Just as we load up the rain starts coming down really hard. I pull the Eluder out and way out of the way to get everything loaded up and tied down and the dude pulls right behind me like he's going to start something, but suddenly has a change of heart and keeps his mouth shut (guess I'm pretty big, 6'4" and 220.) As we pull out my buddy says he hadn't been in a good fight in awhile, and he thought he was going to get one today!

Exactly, That why i get a kick out off just being a to the point smart azz. Then get to laugh about it all day.:rof:

Believe me, no ones more relaxed and care free then I, I just go about my business the right way, and don't let the ignert interfere with myself or my plans.

I think we're going to get along just fine :rof:

I get constant 'you just can't let **** like that go' from my wife... and no.. I have entirely too much fun with it

This is one thing that is universal across the world for boaters....Idiot boaters. people are jerks for the most part and the lack of courtesy just proves the demise of our culture. Just a total lack of consideration and ethics.....but that is a whole separate rant.

Using the boat ramp on a regular basis is all new for me. We always launch the boats in the spring and pull them out in the fall. Those were fishing boats though. I always got a good laugh watching people at the ramp, but now I'm in the mix. I tend to take the same approach as Keith - smartass comments and gestures to the ignorant folks and a genuine helping hand to those that truly need it. Tends to speed up the process, but causes the wife to go hide somewhere:cheers:

Some peoples lack of consideration for others is unbelievable..

It's not a lack of consideration. It's stupidity. I really think many people are oblivious to what they're doing half the time.

But just remember, they have to go through life this stupid. So I'm sure it pays most of them back as they stumble and bumble their way through it.

Boating is supposed to be relaxing, no need to bust a blood vessel over it.

I agree with you, however, when it takes you 1 hour to do something that takes 5 minutes tops you get a little stressed. And it is multiplied by going to meet up with people I find.

Some get the boat ready before they drop others do it in the lane. And if there is a ramp attendant they do not help the situation to expedite the flow of vessels.

I am amazed at what I see at the boat launch on a regular basis. I have been trailering boats for years and have it down like a Nascar pit stop. I do tend to make a few smart remarks to people here and there.

My favorite boat launch jerk was a guy with a 24 goot Baja, he got to the ramp only to learn he had a dead battery. Out of no where he started screaming at his wife and kids throwing a huge fit. He then walks over to me and asked if I had a jump box or jumper cables. I tild him, "I have a jump box and a spare battery, maybe if you were a bit nicer I would have let you use it". Then I went back to getting my boat ready and ignored him. He walked away bitching, I laughed half the day.

You guys are making me so appreciative of the small dilapidated ramp 600 feet from my front door. The marina is tiny and hardly anyone uses the ramp. Its just about the closest thing to having my down private one without having the tax bill for lakefront property.

I just shake my head and say, do you need help? Or should we wait till the water turns to ICE. I will offer help first, then I get sarcastic. :shakehead:. I'm usually pretty calm though.

I love the guys that drive the whole way down & back their trailers in & let their trucks runningwith THEIR HEADLIGHTS ON!! Back your trailer down beside that sh!@#$t!! GGGGrrrrr!!!
