BRX Stereo upgrade

dgs

New member
We just took delivery of a 2400 BRX and so far the only complaint is that the stereo leaves a bit, OK a lot, to be desired.

Anyone willing to share their stereo upgrade advice on a Checkmate bowrider with a fiberglass liner?

I'm thinking headunit (with Bluetooth and hardwired remote reachable from the drivers seat)
2 additional mids in the bow cupholder pockets
a subwoofer (location?)
I think the space the compartment in front of the cooler would be good for amps.

Does anyone know if there is anything inside the bucket seat bases?

Instead of changing out everything I added to it. I purchased a cheap less than $50 Bluetooth portable receiver that plugs into the audio cable in the glove box from the back of the radio for remote control of the radio via Bluetooth phone that sits in my pocket or cup holder.

I added a 5 channel amp behind the cooler compartment and made sure the amp was reachable for adjustments from the seat back cushion in the bow. I also squeezed a 10 or 12" sub in the middle of the back seat facing forward. The sub made the whole difference. I can take some pictures in the next few days if it helps.

The bucket seat bases are hollow and you could definitely add speakers to it

Chuck that would be much appreciated. I bought an iPod adapter + and iPod to iPhone (lightning) and a USB to Bluetooth, adapters. Unfortunately, neither one worked, I think there might be an issue with the head unit.

Photos of your setup would be greatly appreciated.

I went with the kicker marine speakers....with led lighting. They look & sound awesome! Ran 2 -8" speakers in the back off a jbl marine amp 600watts & put 2-10" subs up front running off a 1000watt cerwin vega amp.

dgs, I haven't been able to take pictures yet but will try to before the end of the week.
