I figure I would start a thread for us. chime in when you are going out in this area (saginaw river/bay, sanford, wixom, houghton, ect., ect. lakes).

we all might be able to meet up a few times this year and hang out.

with the forcasted weather in the 40's-50's all this coming week, i think i am going to put a few hours on the motor this coming week end. i know its cold, but i want it broke in for the nice weather when it comes.

Count me in on any get togethers.

Keep in mind Saturday, June 21st is the Country music festival on Ojibway Island. Even if you arent a country music fan, its a pretty good time. Lots of boats will be on the Saginaw River that day.

Sanford lake is one ofmy favorites, I can often be found on the sand bar at the north end of the Lake. Good place to hang out, relax, and have a few. Takes a bit of a ride to get up there from the public launch. But beware of hidden sand bars they are all over, just ask my prop.

i like to go to sanford myself. i like to hang out at both ends of the lake and slip in some time at the public grills for dinner....... the rides back and forth are the best part!

when are you guys gonna come up to the traverse area and run on the bays................. or on torch lake-the 3rd most beautiful lake in the world?:poke::welcome:

There are a lot of nice lakes in Michigan that I should visit. The problem is I am about 10 minutes from the river, and 30 minutes from Sanford Lake. As a result I dont get up north all that much. However, I do plan on hitting Old Orchard in Oscoda this summer.

I am amazed there are not more members in this area, there are boats every where you look.

Sounds like a plan for this summer.:bigthumb:

kct11- houghton would be ok w/ me-never been there! i meen on the lake. we will chat when it gets a lil' closer to summer:cheers.........ross

I will more than likely be in traverse this summer. Father in law lives close by. I will get a hold of you when I will be there so i know of a good launch to put my boat in.

We have a pretty full summer planned already - Mem. day down at lake st. mary's in OH (meeting family there).

I need to get to the saginaw at least once to see that white / purple / yellow (black??) streak too. Curt - why don't you pick a weekend day - maybe early june??

Elk lake 3rd wk in july.

A few wkends on bradford lake (small lake near otsego lake)

One wkend at indian river campground at burt/mullet (early july)

The starliner will be at my place in South Lyon until mid-June, so I'd be up for something local here before that - cass, bellville, wherever..

Ross - can I get out into grand traverse bay with my starliner? I've heard different opinions. I had a buddy go out to a winery in a 19' aluminum deep V boat and it sounded rough to do with kids. I know it's weather dependant, but just wondering

i'll be out on houghton quite a bit this summer. parents have a place on higgins and my bro has a place near houghton. BUD BASH 2008!!!

all right! sounds like a few of us will be hanging out this year.

Anthony, sounds cool. you know how easy it is for me to get down to the river, so just about any time is good for me.......but not this weekend. LMAO

Traverse bay is no proplem for a starliner,If the weather whips it up there you'll properly won't be out anyway.I spent the best 2 weeks of my boating life there. 85* and sunny 2 weeks straight. On the water from 10 am to dusk most everyday.(while the girlfriend was at class at Northern University until 2pm.) The East bay is the nicer bay and beach area

You have to ride out to Old Mission Pointe and drop anchor in and around the sunken boulders.3-400 yds out from the Mission Pointe light house. But you'll need to have a six of Old Mission Pointe Beer with you make it just right. As yours truely happen to.

And for Houghton lake. Why go there, Its brown, shallow and weedy when Higgins Lake( voted the 7th most beautiful lake in the world is so near.

:bounce:

Yeah - I agree. I've only been on Higgens once, but it's NICE. Nice campground there too... if you reserve a site about now. We used to get 4 sites together for the neighborhood gang up there. Maybe a single site would be easier to get...

We'll be hitting higgens once this year for sure.

wait guys........ higgans? being the 7th most beutiful??????????? torch lake is the 3rd most beautiful lake in the world! trust me on this one!!!!!!!!!:poke:

Whats the plan for Memorial day weekend?? Any one going out on the Saginaw River, Bay, maybe Sanford Lake?? Cant decide if we want to bother driving up north and taking a gamble on the weather, still kinda early in the year.
