CHECKMATE OWNERS RALLY 2012

Date has been set for July 14th, 2012. Lake Cumberland, KY.

Things are going to change this year a little bit.
We are planning on starting from Grider Hill marina.
From there we are going to run up to Harmon Creek.
For those who want to party, go back and tie up.
For those of us who want to run, we are running to Burnside for lunch. We figure this will take about 1.5 hrs or less depending on speed
After lunch, we will head back to Harmon creek and join the others for the raft up/social event!
Dinner time we will head to Grider Hill and they have a band playing that night.

Any parties interested can join in our run at any point. You can stay at any camp site or any marina that you want. The run will maintain a safe pace so as not to loose slower boats. Don't worry about running with big boats if you have a small boat. We did this last year and worked great for everyone that ran. We all got to do some racing and yet no one was left behind.

I will post more info tomorrow but wanted to get the date set as I have been getting a lot of PM's and calls about this!

Being the smallest boat there last year my wife and I had a fantastic time so no one should worry too much about the water conditions. We will plan to be there again this year.

With the rally starting at grider hill and all the available slips and hotel rooms that is a great place to stay. Plus saterday night the band is on the top deck which is a great time to kick back relax then a short walk to your slip! Plus it is a short 3 mile ride to the the dam when you launch!:bounce:

I put it in for time off! I will be there with something somehow! Hopefully mine! Im already pumped!!!!!!!!!! Note to self......Bring Helmet.......

so how many miles is it appx. from grider hill to burnside? sounds like a great day out cruising to me:bigthumb: i like the plan, now lets see if i can make it work again next year:cheers:

Here you go. I remember running the entire length about 15 yrs ago. It took about 1 hr at 50-60 mph.A tank each way (1.59 at that time). So there properly be a gas stop during lunch. No proplem. Back in those days you really did need to bring your own fuel for yourself and the boats. My suggestion would be any early start at the west end of the lake. At least by 9:00 am. So with all the typical disfuctions in the early hrs are covered for those who choose to make the run all the way up and back down to have a little time at Harmon's after lunch. The map makes those turns look small but they large and you can scubb off some time and milage by cutting them a little tight.

Its not the size of my tank. Its the low tech of my 93 1st generation 2.5 hipo carbed 245hp. 32 gal tank + 60 miles + limited fuel points = top that bitch off! :D Thats not mentioning the overly warm flat hull sucking prop spinning water!

Excellent Plan Brian !!!

Brian, This looks like a great plan for the 2012 rally. And I agree with Merc245 about shoving off early sat morning that way we could be back at harmon mid-day for breasts & beer. And just a shout out to everyone if you have any questions about Grider feel free to PM me. I've been going there for 30 years and live in somerset so if any of you were thinking of camping and needed me to reserve a campsite just let me know since all sites are first come. Also, I could reserve a block of slips for all interested in wanting one.
In closing I would like to say I'm looking forward to seeing all of you again and also meeting new c'mate enthusiests. And remember its us the owners who have and believe in these boats at one time or another in our lives and its events like this keep the legend and history of Checkmate alive !!!

BTW,
I also have a goat farm close to my house for any looking to make there visit to lake cumberland unforgettable !!! :rof:
