Eddie Marine Elite Tach Help

I have a Eddie Marine Elite Tach on my pulsare rigged with a ETEC 250ho. It is a Nema smart type tach with the lcd info panel. Everything is good when the boat is running but when I shut it off the tach keeps cycling and says data bus comm error. I have heard the elite gauges were problematic but trying to figure out if my tach is going bad or if there is a simple answer to why this is going on. I thought at first it might be a bad ignition switch but the gauge will continue to cycle at shut down even when I disconnect all ignition switch wires. I have a battery shut off switch which I have been using to shut everything down, all is fine when I turn things back on until shut down again after a run cycle. Any thoughts? Experience with similar issue or theses gauges?? Thanks in advance
Jeff

Sounds like it is not wired to the switched ignition power but to a constant source. I would trace the power wire to back of gauge and see where it goes.
