GASKETS

Simple question here. What is the best type/kind of; Head Gaskets and Exhaust gasket to use on my 455 Olds? Copper, Aluminum or ??

Felpro makes a decent stock gasket (simple answer)

What are your intentions for this engine? Are you rebuilding? Are you doing it yourself? If so do you have the tools/knowledge? How accurate are you at measuring? (any more information you can provide will be most helpful) for a more (complex answer) There are better gaskets, the question would be are they worth it for your application.

I can supply a complete felpro marine Complete gasket set for Chevy Ford or Olds, The Felpro composition gasket set is a great way to go for stock and high performance applictions, I can supply head gaskets only too.

I use Cometic MLS Head gaskets for an upgrade on high performance engine, A must for me with Racing, high compression and supercharged engine applications. I then use the Flepro Marine gaskets and seals everywhere else in the engine, Cometic Gaskets have to be ordered and there is a lead time of about a week or so before they can send them out usually, Felpro you can have from me next day.

If anyone would like a great price on a gasket set pm me.
Remember when ordering you must go .010 over your bore size, this applies to most engines but not all, mostly big blocks.
Do not use automotive gaskets they will fail.

I run stainless on my engine now. I ran the head gaskets listed below on my 455 jetboat an never had a problem.

Hardin marine also makes a good head gasket for the 455

By the way I can beat this price, and this particular gasket is for a 4.250 bore if your bore is larger by even by .010 this gasket is not right. They also come in a package of one. So double that price to do you engine. Cometics are not much more. I can supply the right size and a complete set in the felpro for just a few bucks more. I'm trying to take care of my fellow members.

Intentions are; Keep this engine, rebuild it, have it for a back up engine when the one I just got quits on me. Having a friend in a speed/machine shop (also owns local Dragstrip) to bore it and do the head work on it. My measuring is accurate, I own a small engine repair shop, a little bit of difference in engines, don't you think?
