Help With A 1978 Checkmate Predictor

Striker3

New member
Hey everybody i'm new here, anyway, i've been looking for a Checkmate for a while now and found a 1978 (from the vin #) Predictor. Its been left out uncovered for a few years, but the hull and transom and floor look good. It needs a good cleaning, new carpeting, possibly new seats, steering and throttle controls/cables, gauges, engine, trailer, so its really just a hull w/ seats. My friend said since it needs a good cleaning, maybe a bit of glasswork or filler, i should go for it since i could pretty much buy the hardware and take it out for a ride, but i should offer $500, maybe a little under. The guy said not $500, but i could take it away right then for $1000. I think i'm gonna wait a month or so and try to work him down, what do you think? Any info would be great.

Thanks

P.S. I'll put some pics on photobucket a little later and post the link.

hey what a coincidence - i'm looking at what appears to be a 79 predictor with no floor in it but the transom seems good, but everything else is rough - 400 canadian for it (with the exchange right now, that's damn near par). he wants 1000 for boat and trailer - i've been on the hunt for a cheap trailer and can't find a damn thing so i think i'm screwed on that. however if i end up upside down on it, i should be able to pull 800 out of the trailer and only be down 200.

1000 is a bit much for a hull. My predictor is for sale in the checkmate listings section for 1000 B/O. I think its a pretty good deal, the boat is very solid all around.

I just picked up my predictor a few months ago and I'm into the boat and trailer for $900...the trailer is a pretty decent galv ez loader. From the sounds of it I wouldn't spend more than 500 on it.
