I have an 84 checkmate ambassador 19' 6" I belive. what kind of speed should I exspect out of this boat? It has a 260 alpha1 With a 14.25x21 prop, no trim tab i tried a SE sport 300 but it leaned to one side real bad at WOT. But anyway you think i could get more than 45 mph out of with 4 people in it. What do you think? prop change maybe?

Its just not that simple to slap another prop on and gain speed. Your boat should be proped to turn 200 rpms under max engine rpms thats recommended by your factory engine specs.

What rpms are you running now wide open. What is your speed now wide open with 2 people 1/2 fuel.

Leaning can come poor weight distribution in the boat, water logged or it can come from a prop.

Buddy of mine has the 1984 20' open bow with the 350 Mercruiser 260 Mag and Alpha, and he runs right on 61 mph GPS with a newer 3-blade stainless steel mercury prop when he's by himself. I think it's the Enertia prop, but am not positive. Not sure of the pitch, but he's in his proper RPM range at WOT. 45 seems very slow. You need to start prop testing, make sure your tachometer is accurate, and have fun!

I have to put in a new tach its not acurate and try to gps the speed and go from there, The SE sport hydrofoil when i took it off the boat did not lean I tried this 2 times with same results so I left it off. It didnt plane any faster anyway. Thanks for the reply Ill try some things and let you know.
