Kip, deck boats are getting hot again. You still have the DeckMate molds?

Here ya go Geoff.

That boat had some potential. From what I hear they only sold a few. Would it sell today? Maybe...If they got out the FLAKE, those would be COOL.

It's a bit geeky looking. They would need to move the helm back in order to maintain the true Mate look.

Is that a stern drive tri hull?
Cool looking boat, never seen a checkmate like that before.
looks like its pretty nimble...i wonder how it handles the rough water though...

To update to 'current' deck boat technology:

1) They'd leave the helm where it's at on the starboard side,

2) The port helm would be made larger to accommodate a sink with cooler, Or a sink with porta-potty room underneath.

3) The bow area would contain a built-in Danforth anchor locker and a built-in telescoping ladder.

4) The flooring would change over to a full fiberglass liner with no wood, and all of the couch bases would be roto-cast plastic. The flooring would be non-skid, with snap-in carpet.

5) The large sunpad would be made much smaller, with the rear bench being moved back approx. 2 feet to enlarge the cockpit area. The couch would become longer up both sides of the boat, increasing seating room. The sunpad would become part of the back seat rest, and the back seat rest would raise up with the engine cover to make engine access much easier. A 14" wide step-through would be built into the aft section behind the driver, for easier access from the swim platform into the cockpit area. Of course, a second telescoping ladder would be under the step-through area under the swim platform.

6) A second model would be built in smaller numbers with an outboard transom. The cockpit would be enlarged once again as compared to the I/O version, with even longer couches than the new I/O version (as compared to this current model)

Typically, the 23' and larger Deck boats have one of two types of RV toilets, under the starboard or port helms. With a Bimini top, a small toilet room, sink, cooler, you can enjoy a long day on the water without worrying about gross public facilities.............

OK... a little "boxey" up front but the right idea! Seams there is a BIG market for deck boats, so YES, it was ahead of it's time!!!

So how about a new Performance Deck boat CHECKMATE STYLE??? available in I/O or Outboard??? Fast Family Fun... hmmm, maybe call it the "Checkmate F3" model???

Heck, as long as I'm dreaming, how about a 26' CAT hull model like my brand-X one... offer it several ways to maximize marketing:
>Long deck - performance cat
>>Open bow - performance family
>>>Deck boat - max space & function
>>>>Center counsel - fast fishin'
*******then offer them with choice of:
>Single I/O...

>>Single Outboard...

>>>Twin Outboard...

Could be a whole new avenue for Checkmate Boats!

I'm not ignoring anything.....i was on vacation last week.! But the molds are gone crushed in the landfil ! We wasted a bunch of time & money developing this thing and it was a flop ! I know that deck boats...or performance deck boats/ cats , etc are pretty big now... but not something we are looking to develope market is pretty crowded !
